    Cambridge Audio Azur 651A , bricked I think !!

    Hello,

*** Excuse my writing, English is not my first language ***

I had a perfectly working amplifier but ….

I noticed there is a PIC16F882 that control this amplifier. Since I'm familiar with those PIC microcontrollers, I made a lot of program in C for different projects throughout
the years using those microcontrollers, I just wanted to see if I could just read this pic for keeping a backup of the firmware.

The pic got detected fine with my programmer, but It was reading all zeros, so I'm pretty sure it is code protected. After trying a few readings, now it is corrupted (bricked) !!!

Just to let you know, I did not accidently click the program button !!

When turned on with the switch at the back, it is supposed to go through all the led one after the other and stay in standby mode, until you pressed the power switch.

Now all the led are on and the power switch in the front does not work …

I tried finding a firmware on the internet, but no luck !!

    UPDATE !

I contacted Cambridge Audio support and they could not provide me the firmware for my amp neither their US service partner PanurgyOEM.

So, since I can program a PIC microcontroller easily , I'm not an expert but not a newbie neither, I'm going to create the firmware myself !!

When the amp was working, after the back switch was flipped, it did like a self test of all the led. A sequence from left to right, right to left, all off and power led dimmed. That part for me is easy to do !!

Press the power button, power led full brightness, I could hear a relay clicking, last speaker state and input led lighted, amp fully on.

For now I'm not going to program the protection part, like PIC Short, PIC DC, PIC Clip/VI, PIC Temp and neither the IR In, later.

Clock and Data are both for U2 (Front panel PCB) and U5 (Input PCB), LED strobe is for latching U2 and STROBE for latching U5.

    Stby Tact = power button
Standby LED = power led full brightness
    HP detect = Headphone detect
PO/HP mute = not sure, but I think when you plugged a headphone, it's supposed to cut power to both speakers ??
Standby relay = this one gets me confused. I tried to follow where it's going but could not !!!!

If someone is kind enough to look at U7 on the preamp PCB schematic and help me make like a flow chart after I pressed the power button, it would be appreciated. You can easily find the service manual online.

Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6 - Power Supply
      by smurtz
I have here a Cambbridge Audio Stream Magic 6 which does not power on.
When opening the case the PSU appears to be faulty:

IC1 (ICE3BR0665J), D2, the rectifier bridge, C15,C16 are dead and T2 is fried:

I found the schematics of the PSU in the cambridge Audio CXN Service guide which uses the same:
My problem is that I cannot find any info on T2 (SG01323) which seems to be a choke. Anyone knows how I can find a replacement & the value of that choke ?

      Thanks very much in advance...

Cambridge Audio Azur 551P MM Preamp - No output
      by mediaman083
      Hello everyone!

Recently my Cambridge Azur 551P stopped putting out sound after years of great music. After testing with my Fluke meter, there is no voltage present from the AC adapter at all. I had another AC 12V 300ma adapter to test with (the original AC adapter is 12V 500ma) and so I did.

Unit powers up, but there is no buzzing at all when touching the line input cable from the turntable. I am somewhat new to circuitry, but I do know enough to look for blown/bulging caps. I only saw one that was looked ever so slightly puffy in the power supply section,...

Cambridge Audio Azur 550A Power Supply Cap Replacement
      by 3Phase615V
      Hi,

I isolated a power supply failure in my Cambridge Audio Azur 550A to a shorted filter cap (C42, page 37 - see service manual attached) on the +45V supply of the right-hand channel PCB. The faulty cap is a Cambridge Audio branded "Audio Grade" 2200uF, 63V, 105°C 18mmx35.5mm (see attached photo), for which CA have refused datasheet information and the supply of a replacement(s) as they advise they do not supply these items to "end users".

Since audio grade caps rarely appear available at more than 50V (105°C) it has me wondering whether or not...

BIOS file (.BIN) for semi-Bricked IdeaPad 3-14ALC6
      by Fr33man
      Hello everyone,

I soft BRICKED my Lenovo IdeaPad laptop (black screen with led lights on, responsive keyboard backlight, fans spinning) after messing about with a Github tool called Smokeless. I am now attempting to reflash the bios through USB, but I am not sure if I extracted the correct BIOS ROM file to flash, and I also could not find the correct file name to rename it to (GLCrisis.bin, GLCN.bin, Currom.bin??). In addition to attempting to reflash the Bios with a USB, I have also performed the following activities:
      *Novo button power on
      *Disconnected internal battery...

Hi, I have a few of these & they came with a custom bios boot logo, no passwords etc.

2 x were brand new unused but with custom boot logo, 1 I installed Windows/ran updates then it bricked itself. 1 wouldn't get past the custom bios boot logo.

The third I loaded windows, took a backup of the bios chip, then tried to flash several different clean bios's via programmer which all caused it to not boot. I tried to reflash the original bios both using clip & desoldering but...
