Hi Guys, My first time on the forum.
I have a Yamaha HTR-5460 Receiver that I have used for a few years. It has recently developed a problem of giving a pop in the speakers and then shutting down. This is intermittent and might happen after an hour or a couple of days of playing.
I have put it into Diagnostic Mode and it comes up with code “PS PRT 020 B”. According to the service manual “PS PRT” signifies a power supply problem in the mains transformer, 5V or 12V DC supplies. I have a Hitachi HTA-DD3W AV receiver and when I got it I tested it working fine with speakers but it needed a clean inside because it had signs of moisture in it but it was fully dry with bits of wood chips, I guess this was left in a shed so I fully disassembled it and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol very carefully, some de-soldering was also needed but now its very clean, luckily there was no rust on any components and all the capacitors are fine with no bulging. When I turn it on I hear a relay switch on then a few seconds later another relay switches on or off and the display has a "-PROTECT-"... -

I'm having trouble with my Yamaha RX-V485 receiver. After encountering a "version error", the USB, Bluetooth, and network functions have stopped working, making it impossible to perform a firmware update through normal methods.
After doing some research on forums, I found that earlier Yamaha models with similar issues (like the internal error message) could be fixed by shorting or soldering specific pads—such as R896—and then powering on the unit to enter a service/boot mode that displays the model info and allows recovery.

Hi all,
This is a repost since I never completed this fix. I just left it, but now the receiver powers off into safe mode and does not complete the Self-Diagnostic when i start with those buttons pushed. It says it is, but does not do the diagnostics and does not show any faults or that it has none, which it should do. So here i am again. The previous post did have a schematic but I think it was cut off somewhere. I do not know what board it is referring to. Any help would be appreciated.
