    Creative Gigaworks ProGamer G500 troubleshooting

    Hi

I have system Creative Gigaworks ProGamer G500 (production 2006 year). Last two months sound began to disappear, triger: use remote but wired volume controller. Sometimes sound system return back to correct mode but after changing volume problems return again. All LED indication concontroller corrects work - but sound absent.
Syndrome : if power off and connect headhones to wired controller - sound in phones play (looks like capicitors discharging) short time.
In google similar problems absent : present solution for unexpected cutting off or damaged amplifier chip. Present recomentation open remote controller and clean contacts group - i do it, but not help.
Open subwoofer and extracting amplifier/power suply/controller board not found visible problems (burned components/cracked components or bloat capicitors). One bloat capicitor found in power supply - but that not looks like problem, becouse that type capicitors two and partner not bloat.

Try resoldering the legs on the class D amp IC.

On board four amplifier chips - needs some clarification.

Ufff… brown conductive goo everywhere! Oyyy… haven't seen that much goo on one board for a long time! Get rid of it. If you want you can measure the resistance of that goo and don't be surprised if you get a reading. Remove this stuff as soon as you see it as it turns conductive and corrosive. Then inspect everything to a detail where the brown goo was. Also check the through holes.
As for the class D amplifiers, I thought they were through hole, but yours are surface mount. There is brown goo on the legs of one amp. You get the goo off with heat and a dental pick.
Going to be quite a bit of work…

Is that your board? Having two of the class D amp filter inductors circled looks odd. If that is your board, it looks like there are multiple blown caps (at least one), but it's hard to tell with that glue on top.

No, not my - i not disassemble that board sandwich yet, i found photo from other repair in intrenet, but my similar MS0730B (al borads in system named MS0730(X)), but looks like my maybe other minor revision, becouse uses capicitors <YEC>(i not found same capicitors on photos), and offcourse lot of compound who lock internal screews - thats reasom dissamble with some tips from community, becouse lot of work.

I try disassemble that sandwich - now photos of my board (amplifier board).

I check resistanse of compaund in my board - conductivity absent. Problems in other - that compound from long time lost any elastics and stay as stone, whet i rotate locked by compund screews - compund cracked with part of lacquer board layer, now visible naked metal.
Any ideas how check amplifier chips by multimiter?
Try check capicitors - but, as usually, any correct without dismantling capicitors from board. Bloating or electrolyte leak not found.
