Is the cap bad? is the value still show correct capacitance? I do not believe it will not be the cause of your problem, its job may be just for the AC line noise filter function.

I guess you are right, a capacitor with that rating probably do nothing but filter noise. should be there to filter some high frequency that might affect the tuner, same goes to the rubber/plastic cover.

Don't have a capacitance meter so can't check. I took everything apart and so some cleaning here and there, and it Works! the LCD display brightness is uneven though, for a 23 years old device, I guess this is acceptable. Just see how much dust had rested on its Amp counterpart. and it still work without any issues.

      Thanks for the replies again.

Jeez, I'm surprised that thing hasn't caught on fire or died a spectular death.

              Re: Marantz SR5300

I was happily tidy up the messy cable behind and suddenly the amp went POP and shut down! looks well I didn't fix the problem cause it have the exact same symptom as before--shutdown immediately when I tried to switch it on with remote or thru front input selection.

Opened it up and again, loose solder connection. this time is the connection straight from the transformer. I wiggle the connector and it turn on, a slight move cause a short with spark. I took apart and re-solder the connection but unfortunately, it didn't wake up as before. I was sure when I press the loose connector, the amp work before I re-solder. without that connection, amp would turn on normally and able to switch input but its as good as trash if it can not output sound.

I suspect its short in one of the electronic beside the connector, problem for me is I don't how or where to start. please take a look at the schematic and advise me. the test above was bare main board with only front panel connected.

                Micro Momentary Push Switch?
                by Natob82
Great to be here! I'm a newbie here trying to find a "micro", momentary push switch to repair a Sony "clamshell" video walkman. This micro switch has long since discontinued by Sony, however I hope there are third-party switches of the same size and functionality that I might be able to source to play the same role. The purpose of this switch is to tell the video walkman that the user has activated the mechanical tape eject button, turning that physical action into an electronic signal that tells the tape transport mechanism to open so one can load or eject a video tape. I...

NEC TurboExpress On/Off Power Switch Replacement Help
                by grimacelord
                Hello,

I've been working on a NEC TurboExpress and I accidentally got the plastic inside the power ON/OFF switch too hot while doing other repairs and melted it. At first, it would still power on when sliding the switch, but you had to really press inward while sliding to get it to work.

I removed the switch component and tried to gently melt the plastic back so it would work more reliably and all I managed to do was make it worse.

I need to find a replacement On/OFF switch for this, but having some trouble figuring out which kind of switch I need....

Help making a switch work the opposite way with a relay
                by SluggerB
I have a very small float switch, I'm using in a very small tank. It only fits in one way. Link https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Switch.../dp/B07DZ1J2GB

I want the switch to be open when the water is high, and closed when the water is low. Unfortunately it works the opposite. And since this switch is designed to be underwater, it's all sealed up, there is no taking it apart or hacking it up.

It will be driving a water pump, basic idea, when the water is low, switch closes, which turns on water pump, when enough water is in the tank, float switch floats,...

Anyone have experience with an RC driven temporary "ON" transistor switch?
                by EasyG0ing1
                Hello,

The idea is to use a transistor to activate a latching relay once a voltage is applied but to prevent a constant voltage from being applied to the relay coil, I thought it might be a good idea if it were possible to make sure that the voltage applied to the coil is temporary even though the source voltage could be "ON" for long periods of time.

This is the circuit that I came up with. I have not tested it yet because I don't have the relay yet, though I am looking for anyone who might have experience with this kind of a setup to hopefully offer some advice,...
