    earbud suggestions

well, my habit of buying $5 ear buds at the local big lots (discount store) isn't paying off any more. although the construction looked good and the performace was ok, the quality has been SH!T. my last set died after 2 weeks...

anyway, I like ear buds because they save space in my laptop bag...

    what I already know:

-my last set of skullcandy buds from a few years back died within 3 months

-the $20 set of JVC marshmallow buds from wally world weren't bad until ding-dong over here got them caught in a car door

anybody have suggestions for a good set of buds for less than $30?

If you rebuild those cheapies you liked using good wire they might last a while.
The wire they use is like as thick as a human hair. That's usually what fails.

If you haven't opened it then you have no idea what the failure is.

My wife used to go through those faster than batteries.
Once in a while I'd fix them. It's usually just the wire and often it's at the plug, not the speakers.

                  Re: earbud suggestions

I have some headphones with broken wires as well. On one set, the wires broke where they entered the left speaker enclosure. I don't know where the wires broke on the other set, but I know that the ground wire broke (open circuit between either speaker and the sleeve on the plug). On the first set, the cable going to the left speaker is stiff. I bought the same model of headphones as a replacement, and the left speaker cable became stiff as well.

You might not be able to fix your earbuds. On my headphones with the broken ground wire, the wire seems to be broken almost exactly in the middle of the cord.

                      Re: earbud suggestions

That's why I said to replace the wire.

You can get a 6' 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable at the dollar store for $1 and it's better wire than those come with.
Just clip one end and run it to the speakers.
Might have to Y-split the ground.

                        Re: earbud suggestions

well, the drivers were actually on a PCB, wires were mounted SMD.

the POS's were too loud anyway and the silicone mushroom boot things kept on falling off.

even the wire looked ok... maybe 24 or 26 gauge?

they were not 99 cent units like the stock ones that come with ipods... they were made by sentry and looked to be better than they apparently were.

my guess is there was some fault in the right driver... pulling, pushing, and wiggling the wire where it entered the the bud would make it work intermittently... the soldering looked bad on that one (other side looked good), but resoldering didn't fix it, nor did a rewire. probably a case of reject or chinamart crap drivers..

                          Re: earbud suggestions

I didn't think they could be too loud.

I have a 3.5mm stereo cable, but it has a broken wire as well. It failed after two weeks. The two wires that aren't broken are so thin that they have three ohms of resistance. It was supposed to be a high-quality cable as well (expensive, large diameter cable, and gold-plated connectors). The wire broke about half an inch from one of the connectors.

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
                              by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

Hello, I just got this motherboard used.
It worked fine for the first few boots, got to BIOS etc. However, first time first time I tried to boot it to OS - Linux live CD in this case - I got to the desktop, but the mouse or keyboard was not functioning.
The system was not frozen though, the clock did run. But pressing any button on the keyboard only made the num lock light flash, and nothing else.
So, I figure it's a compatibility issue or something, and I shut the system down with the power button.
And that's it. The motherboard is now completely dead.

Edifier x3 Earbuds Blue Light Problem (Charging Problem)
                              by kity92
I ordered a Bluetooth earbud one and half year ago, and right earbud broke. The light that should have been red when you put it in the charging case started to turn blue continuously(which means earbud is not charging) and after 1 week the earbud completely died. I disassembled right earbud because the warranty finished. I diagnosed the battery was dead, so I charged it with TP4056 and revived the battery.

Right earbud is working now but I still didn't solve charging problem. I checked the charging box with a multimeter. There is 5V. I checked the headphone pins and they are working....

                              Hi fellow lifesavers.

I have a Samsung washer-dryer WD80N645OOW which died mid-cycle. No response to anything, completely dead.

Checked the socket, the plug fuse, all good. Took it out to examine the boards.

There is a relay clicking on the mainboard. Upon applying power, I can see a diode flashing on inverter board, after a while a diode on main board lits up for a split second, then I can hear a relay clicking. This repeats a few times, then everything dies completely.

I've been trying to examine the main board, but it's a bit difficult becuse...
