Onkyo TX-SR607 HDMI problem showing a black screen intermittently

Onkyo TX-SR607 HDMI problem showing a black screen intermittently, audio was OK.
It would usually cut out a few minutes after power on, for maybe 1 minute then work OK, then cut out and go to black again. Or fade out to sparkles and noisy video.

Well known is these boards need recapping and there is a strange mix of parts on both sides of the board.

    The bottom of the board has 100uF 4V (5.3*5.3mm, qty 5) and 220uF 4V (6.6*6.6mm, qty 5).
Per the service bulletin, an issue is the Toshiba LDO's want low ESR for stability so I went with 100uF 6.3V polymer Nichicon 647-PCS0J101MCL1GS. The 220uF replaced with 647-UUA0J221MCL1GS from Mouser.
I tested the old caps and they were all bad, low value and high ESR.

Top side of the board also has (qty 2) 220uF 4V which were low value and replaced.
    Through-hole Nichicon VR 470uF 16V 85°C (qty 5) tested OK so I left them.
SMT "G3 470A CD" (qty 3) I did not check or replace. Not sure what they are for make/voltage rating. Anyone know?
SMT 22uF 4V? I did not have any and left it but it's in a hot spot.

Most of the caps are on big copper or right next to parts so soldering is a bit awkward.
The board is fragile, do not trash the big IC pins.

    Leaving a recap list spreadsheet.

Re: Onkyo TX-SR607 HDMI problem showing a black screen intermittently

I find it's working good, for the price of a Mouser order. It's a dumpster rescue I've had for years, original owners replaced it with a Sony STR-DH770 that sounds shitty by comparison, does not party like the Onkyo

It also used to turn on in weird modes, most 220uF parts are for the SDRAM and CPU so that seems to be fixed as well.
Strange when off it runs medium-hot, the HDMI board/CPU stays running for pass-through. When it's on then you add the heat of the 7 power amps, and with no fan- it's hot.

I did not replace the top-side 470uF 10V parts because I didn't have them and soldering looks tricky with parts right next to them- there is no room barely to get a soldering iron in there.
I removed the 100uF, 220uF old caps by the twist back and forth until the leads broke.

Onkyo volume control encoder replacement I did in this thread (Onkyo P/N 25065655W, Alps EC12E2425 substituted Alps EC12E2420803 and it works/fits just like the original. Mouser 688-EC12E2420803).

Hisense H50N5300UK reboots when showing full red images
        by Track4207
Hi all! A bit of an interesting and unusual problem: as the the title suggests I have a Hisense H50N5300UK that reboots when showing fullscreen solid red images (and some other solid colours, but red generally causes the issue the fastest). I first came across the problem assuming it was an intermittent issue, but later lucked into finding out that a title sequence of a show I watch happened to trigger the reboot.

        What happens:
        • TV appears to operate normally, for an indefinite amount of time until a problem image appears
        • The problem image is displayed very briefly, then the

Running out of Ideas, hoping someone smart can provide some for my ONKYO TX-SR353 Receiver
        by CDNBrewer
        Hello Everyone,

I have an Onkyo TX-SR353 Audio/Video Receiver (5.1 ch with HDMI) that I am having a really hard time diagnosing and I'm about to throw this in the junk and go buy a new unit that is on sale until the 7th.

        Symptoms:
        • Intermittent (part of the reason why i'm having a hard time isolating problem), sometimes will work for 10+h at a time without issue
        • Original symptom was wife reported loud banging noise (like someone was banging on the wall with their fists) from the LEFT SURROUND speaker and then the unit shut off.
        • I swapped the Left and Right surround

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
        by FrancescoV
        Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
        M:1.00/11107BLP
        D:?.??/????????
        O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...

Onkyo-593 No power and now clicking sound
        by Sisko
        Hi all!!

Ok just got a Onkyo SKW-593 sub woofer that has no power person told me that it smoked and that his GF let the volume full when she powered off the amp and when he came to turn it on the sub played but then suddenly smoke was coming out, didn't say from where. So opened it up and saw a resistor made of metal (pic) but can't see any writing on metal par so what ever was written on it was burnt. So I'm kinda stuck here with this. I did ask for a repair or schematics in the other group section and waiting for this but I hope someone here might lend me a hand to try and identify...
