    exquisit GSP-206

I have a dishwasher that decided to go on a strike, it turns on and all that, but doesn't wash. (no water jets)
When I opened it up I noticed some light heat/burn smell similar to plastic burning, and unable to pinpoint it exactly.
The two motors turn, the smaller top one seems to be some kinda step motor.
The large motor needs force to turn, it wont spin if I stop spinning it, it's not much force needed but some.
I checked the capacitor that connects to the large motor and it seems like it's dead.
Do I test it like normal Electrolytic capacitors or?
I noticed there were no markings of a positive or negative markings on it, is it perhaps non-polarized capacitor?

Is it enough for me to replace it or could something else have damaged also?

You need to replace it with the correct motor start capacitor 3µf (Likely) 450vac
Look for the part number cqc07002018862 3µf, It should not be hard to find one, or check with an appliance shop.
It is a non polarized capacitor, you should be able to check it's capacity, but it is likely open. Even a capacitor check might say it is ok but the motor takes more current than a cap tester outputs.
Its a common failure and thats all that should need replacing

Yes if you have cap tester it does not need to check ESR
( however you can but with type of capacitor I do not know what value is considered good )

Now they will tell you 10% difference and then you need to replace it

I personally do not follow that rule if it is a China made capacitor

I follow this rule if it is made in China if the value is over or under 5% value I replace if it causing problems

      Or if

The device is over 5 years old

        Thanks for the reply's.
        Yes it's a 450v 3uf cap
So I quickly rested the cap.
Charged it with 10vDC, it took 43sec to drop down to 1v, but just 10sec or so to drop to 5v.
Checked it with an ESR meter (mesr-100)
        4.04Ω

        Does that say anything?

Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?
          by Per Hansson
          (TL;DR skip the first paragraph)
I encountered my first dead motor run capacitor at a customer this week.
For some fields I guess it is a very common occurrence but the usual way for industrial machines here is to use 3-phase motors.
(Unless a servo motor makes more sense that is).
But for some reason this 3-phase machine uses a 1-phase motor for its liquid coolant pump.
The pump would run but sometimes trip the 10A breaker.
I monitored it starting and stopping for over an hour until it finally stopped in a specific spot between its windings:
          Then it could...

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
          by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...

How can I test non-polarized capacitor?
          by chth96
I desoldered samwha NF capacitor(50v 5.6uf) from PCB circuit of 29inch CRT TV which have symptoms of no display after I heard sound of inrush of current to TV whenever I switch on this television.
I measured ESR value of this non-polarized capacitor(samwha NF capacitor 50v 5.6uf) by means of MESR-100 ESR meter and It displayed 0.3 ohm

And When I measured its capacitance with digital multimeter and LCR-T4 Mega328 meter, It displayed 10uf from DMM and 8uf from LCR-T4 meter.
I found catalogue of samwha capacitor(samwha-catalogue_3.pdf file), which is attached to this thread,...

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?
          by chth96
When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.
          Rubycon YK DataSheet (b...

Nescafe Aeroccino, still fails with new Motor (red flashes only once)
          by juergenb
          Hi,

i am asking for some Help.
I have one of these Nescafe Aeroccino (Milk Frother) things with a bad motor.
The Motor didn´t start anymore and internet is full of users just swapping the motor for a Mabuchi RF-500TB-12560.
So i got a few of these from Banggood.

I swapped the motor and now i have a new fault condition.

In a working Frother you would press the start button, it will light red and work for a few minutes.
If you press longer it will light blue and just mixup the milk.

With the new Motor it just starts...
