    Model number VPT24-16Z.

I have 3 of these in my home for over 10 years now and Im planning on replacing them as I lean towards a Philips Hue home setup.
They are great units but they lost the ability to keep/store the time and settings after power outages and brown outs.
I knew it was a battery in there somewhere but never got around to looking into it.
Well an opportunity came for me to remove this from its home in my wall so I disassembled it to see what was going on.
I found a 3.6V LIR1632 battery spot welded and nestled in there.

I think i will replace all the batteries and put them up to give them a good home.
This is good excuse to get a good LiON spot welder i have been meaning to procure.

those come with the tabs on them - a spot welder will generate too much heat in something that small
if it was me i'd fit a socket/holder anyway

It maybe possible to fit a holder in here but I think these werent designed to last a lifetime and thus no one would think the end user would attempt to replace the battery.
Alternatively I could run a wire from the leads to holder which resides off the PCB. Then it would be semi servicable without the need to totally disassemble the unit every 5 years.

Doesn't have to be a coin cell. Here in Canada we can't get readily replacement Li-Ion coin cell with tabs, unless one is willing to fork over $100. Since then, I modify the battery to whatever works for me and can get cheap batteries for. I've done anything from swapping out batteries to put coin cell holders and regular CR2032's and installing a small flat pouch battery. As long as there is room, go for it.

those arent 3v, they are 3.6v rechargeable.

So is a small Li-Ion pouch battery. Like I said, anything that fits goes in there. Off course you have to see if it is rechargeable circuit or not, then choose accordingly.

WD Sentinel DS5100 (NAS) boot issues
              by DeanWy
              Hi all,

I have a Western Digital Sentinel DS5100 NAS system which has stopped working. It has dual BIOS. I bought the system second hand with an already broken primary BIOS (it rebooted multiple times until second BIOS was used).

It worked until recently. The system was idle in Windows Server 2012 and a BSOD occurred, I think it was 'critical process died'. Thereafter it didn't boot, it just sat there with no video output and fan speed at 100% (there's a proprietary Windows driver by WD which controls the fan, outside of that it always runs at 100%).

              There...

              Need help picking 12v timer!!
              by Storyteller12
I need a 12v timer that cuts on when 12v applied (when door is opened) and cuts off after 2 minutes even if he door stays open with the 12v trigger. And resets when door is closed.

The ones I see tend to start the timer when powered down. (Momentary switch)

              Thanks in advance

TOSHIBA DLP 52HM95 How to reset timer module on bulb
              by repair-it
I replaced the bulb only on my Toshiba DLP The bulb is a TB-25. This is the first time I've done a bulb only replacement. Supposedly there is a timer module that needs to be re-calibrated or reset. I don't know where the module is located. I see some vendors selling the bulb with the housing stating module included which leads me to think the module is located inside the enclosure the bulb mounts in, but I didn't see it. Maybe it's inside the plug attached to the bulb?

Anyway - I am seeking information on how to reset this so called module so that the lamp will operate. Apparently...
