now those are big inductive resistors...

Yeah the outer ends are 2 ohms and the center are 1 ohms on each one

people are using ESR meters, isn't this a better way to test batteries?

ESR meters will measure specific power, but won't specific energy.

I have read this as well but I do not know how to interpret the results of what the ESR value would mean for battery cell health that you could rely on

I have tried this but I have had mixed results so I do not use this for an evaluation method

ESR just needs to match the manufacturer's specifications, comparing numbers across chemistries and sizes doesn't make much sense - a value acceptable for alkaline cells can be horrible for NiMH and Li-ion but too good for lithium thionyl chloride.

An apparatus such as this is still needed to measure capacity.

Where do you find this information on the data sheet because I always see this

Depends on the manufacturer, they should list it, if they aren't then they're not doing a good job describing their product. This data is related to the max current draw and thus power.

Haven't checked out Li-ion cell datasheets in a while but I definitely see it for lead acid batteries.

Well I have had some time to play with this battery testing machine on a battery pack and the software on the computer and it has been interesting with the results of this battery pack

Well my computer decided to lock the screen and I had restart the the software again and lost the results which I do not understand because it has been turned off to not lock the screen however it does it anyway sometimes by it self

Here are the results after more than two hours into the testing

The end results are that it tested at 7200 milliamperes hours and I do not think that cycling it more will not help because it has tested this way several times before and the results are basically the same

The conclusion of this battery testing machine is that it is useful for battery packs that are over 24 volts and for battery packs that you want to put more than a 2 amp load on them but it has it limitations one being that you have to have a external switching power supply for charging and your battery voltage has to be above 9 volts to able to use it

It voltage range is from 12 volts to 72 volts which works for me very well I have found a 60 volt switching power supply for this battery tester that I going to buy for it

One more note you do have to modify the fans if you can not stand for the fans to be at full speed all the time when in use
