the 4 on the right are fuse-carriers,

not sure what's on the left, maybe relays.

Looks like a high amperage solenoid pack on the left, indeed those are fuses on the right and the connectors on the top might possibly be bulkhead connectors for cable lugs or something.
Sure is awesome to see ceramic insulators in there.

How big is whole battery system? That's some serioulsy insane guage cabling and high rated fuses.

yes they are supposed to have the positive terminal covered but normally dont see that.

normally though its the mobile that falls. and on boats they bounce and shoot somewhere where it takes 45mins of yoga to get it back.

Could it be part of a split charging setup ?
I worked for someone quite a few years back (1986~88) and he had a boat that I helped to sort some stuff on and I seem to remember seeing some thing sort of like this.
