    Resistor Array ID

Hello - I am working on a professional keyboard Korg PA800 this is the CPU board and I need a better understanding as to identifying the resistor array. the resistor array is the RA123 or 126, the resistance I am getting across the pins is 2.841,6.63,6.61,6.64,3.220 when I switch the leads around I get the reading at the same points of 3.231,6.63,6.61,6.64,2.826. My questions is two fold, first is the resistance out of tolerance , and it could be worse under load, and what would this resistor be called if I need to order another one? I know the marking 332 is a 3.3 Kohm but it is doubling after the first resistor.

I do have several of these resistors on the board, some read good ( around 3.3k Ohms) both way and others have similar reading to what I posted above.

The issue I am having is RAM memory causing sound distortion. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do have the SM on the unit but it does not give out any details.

    Re: Resistor Array ID

The service manual has your answer. Pins 5 and 10 are common to one end of the array, pins 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 are the other end of the resistor
If you mesasure from either pin 5 or 10 to any other pin you should get 3.3k. if you measure from (ie) 1 to 2 you will measure 2 resistors in series, 6.6k.

      Re: Resistor Array ID

Thanks for the reply that makes sense. I did notice that while reviewing the manual but did not fully understand. I did re-measure and everything seems to be within 5% of 3.3 kohms. However when I swap the leads and measure I measure down to 2.8 kohms give or take. Would this mean that the resistor pack is faulty? I am seeing this on most all of this type of array, my hunch is that since they are reading about the same it is not an issue.

        Re: Resistor Array ID

You are reading something else in the circuit (ie input or output of an ic etc.) The chances of those going bad is not very likely.

Can a resistor lose resistance after hot air?
          by MidnightRoller
I am curious if a 0402 resistor could go from 43 ohm to 0. In electronics class and my experience a resistor can degrade and gain resistance all the way up to not being able to conduct at all. I have never heard of a resistor decreasing in resistance and becoming 0 ohm or a dead short… that's not the direction they fail… or so I thought.

I was attempting to remove a wson8 chip on an iMac motherboard and it required a lot of heat, on one side of the chip were 3 0402 resistors that were very close. I popped the chip out unintentionally out of the tweezers and sent those resistors...

Hoover FM216LI cordless vacuum refuses to charge
          by flat-earther
I have a Hoover FM216LI cordless vacuum which isn't charging its internal battery.

I opened up the unit, and it has 6x Samsung ICR18650-22P cells connected in series.
5 cells were at about 3.3-3.1V. one was at 2.4V, so I assumed this cell was bad that's why the vacuum wasn't charging so I replaced it with another 18650, but after that the problem still persists, the vacuum turns on a bit and then cuts out since the batteries are empty.

So I think the over discharged battery wasn't the culprit, it was a symptom of the unit not being able to charge its batteries....

Hello,I need help figuring out the resistance of this exploded resistor. I'm pretty sure it's the one labeled R37. I tried measuring it with a multimeter, but I got different values each time, probably because it's exploded. If you have a schematic, it would be really helpful!

Dell 2209WA - power supply - Fusible Resistor replacement
          by jinu_j
          Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

          1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
          2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
          3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
          4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...
