    Cleaning BGA pad ?

    Everyone,

I got an issue with BGA pad covered with a layer of flux..
Does anyone know how to clean it ?

It's difficult for me reballing it, since the layer is blocking the ball..

    Cheers

MEK is great for cleaning up flux. Don't get it on your hands and don't let it sit on plastic for to long or it will eat away at it.

it's very sticky like a thin layer of film, it's blocking me attaching a new pad...

It's not the fact there is flux but the fact the pad isn't tinned that the ball isn't adhering.
You need to apply more flux and lead solder. Ensure all the pads are tinned then go over the area with solder wick. All the pads will then look shiny. I then use IPA on cotton buds to clean the bilk of the flux and clean room wipes after them to remove any fibres.
There are many videos on YouTube showing and explaining the process.

No, it's not something I need to save.
There are many videos on there showing the bga rework process and cleaning the pads.
They all need to be shiny, rework with flux and solder until they all are. Then clean off with more flux and solder wick. Slight contact with the tip of the iron on a pad can help clean off the old crap but be very careful you don't want to rip it off.
Are you using a magnifier or microscope to help you see ?

After watching it, are you understanding the process ?
Have you got all of the pads tinned and cleaned ?

                              it could be fake flux.
