    Help me identify this resistor please

    I can't make heads or tails of the color bands...

    It's measuring 200 milliohms.

    My guess is .18 ohms 5% tolerance and maybe flameproof?. Did I win?

      Is it connected to the Source pin of the Power MOSFET by any chance?

        Yes, precisely... Connected to the source pin of a 10N60C...

        When the FET was in circuit, there would sometimes be a tiny burst of continuity from the drain to the source... Out of circuit it is only showing a 0.5V drop between source to drain and no continuity between drain to source so I thought I would start testing some components around the FET.

        The symptom of this PSU is that while the LCD TV is on, there is aclicking noise coming from around the primary area, which goes on until the TV enters an error mode where it just cycles between solid RGB on the screen.

        What's making this so difficult to diagnose is that I can turn the TV on, have this clicking, then turn it off and back on again, there's no clicking at all, and the TV works perfectly (and I can leave it on for days without any problems).

        I've already ruled out cold solder joints.

        Any ideas?

          The clicking is from a relay? Perhaps what is running the relay is getting caught in an oscillation? In old stereos you always have one transistor that runs the speaker relay. Sometimes they will go into oscillation from a weak tranny or some other component.

          Just guessing here, I've never cracked one of those tv's open.

          Or just leave it on forever. Lol.

            I don't see any relays...

            I think I found the problem...

            It's a 13N50C that mirrors the intermittent behavior...

            Sometimes it shows the proper voltage drop from drain to source, and other times it conducts from source to drain... This is looking good... Now I need to find a replacement.

            And it is in precisely the area where the clicking noise emanates from.

                So far so good... I put the 12N60C in (actually it was a Fuji Power 2SK3502 which is a direct equivalent. I thought I'd try a different brand this time since I have two identical scrap power supplies that use them interchangeably).
