I am stuck with trying to identify a diode I believe to be shorted. The package is 4.5 mm X 2.6 PMDS (SOD 106). The code marking is 87. I expect it may possibly be from China, but do not see it listed in any of their online guides. Any help is appreciated!

Good clear pictures of the board will help us to see the function of that diode.Never stop learning

Re: Help with SMD diode ID
Sure, this is on a Y-SUS board for Samsung PN43E450A1FXZA plasma TV. Board part # is LJ41-10136A. Diode is on the underside of board and marked as D5126. Pictures will be added tomorrow. As far as PM for a code I don't get that logic? Here are the markings as they line up:
CATHODE
87
23
From the data sheets on SOD-160 packages, I am reading "87" as the SMD device code. I still do not see this listed anywhere in the 2011 Code Book. PMDS is simply another designation for SOD-160. I measured it with a micrometer and it is clearly the dimensions for SOD-160.Last edited by smartjohn; 02-18-2016, 10:25 PM.

Re: Help with SMD diode ID
Yes, thanks for checking anyhow. I am guessing it is some off brand Chinese manufacturer. If anyone has the "Turuta SMD Databook 2014" and could check there it may help. The set is 2012 so it's right on the line of maybe having newer parts. Also a BOM for the LJ41-10136A Y-sus board would list it as D5126. I probably sound nuts because I could by the board on eBay for $25-30 but I just love the adventure!

A picture of it would be handy to be sure but what you describe sounds just like ROHM, similar to what you see on heaps of SC boards and Buffer boards too.

Re: Help with SMD diode ID
tw2005 & vinceroger69.. You guys are the BOMB !!
That is exactly what I was looking for!! Data sheet helped me believe this was it!
A short is not a good thing for this part...
I will try a regular 400V PIV 1.5A to see if this is the culprit.Last edited by smartjohn; 02-19-2016, 12:20 PM.
