Can't Remember Why?

Hey fellows. I have 13.8 volt DC power supply that I have had for a long time.
Years ago, a co worker added two Chromalox 10.5 ohm What I believe to be resistors on it. I can't remember why exactly he modified it this way. I'm not sure if it was to increase the amperage or just a dummy load for it to work better? Anyone have any idea's? Thanks

If you don't have a particular reason, disconnect them. How can we tell from a photo how these resistors are connected (are these even resistors)? Maybe someone needed 6 volts instead of 12 volts, who knows? The supply is almost certainly a linear supply, designed for (more or less) constant loads.

You may be searching for the term "bleeder resistor". On the planet I come from, they were used to discharge high voltage filter capacitors and improve regulation on high voltage low current supplies. After removing the alien parts, save them in a glass case and they will be worth a fortune some day.

it looks like one of the desk-bricks we used to use to test cb radio's
the best improvement for those is a big electrolytic cap and a .47uf ceramic in parallel on the output

The top disk is wired to the bottom disk. From there, one wire comes out. Strange.
