    What IC element is this?

    Hi guys.
Can you help me figure out what type of element is this (circled in red)?
Please check the high resolution pictures. The name of the element reads like:
    JS 9. (9 is horizontal)
    .

    Thanks a lot!

Hmm, it has marking bar on one side to indicate polarity. Can you use the meter set in diode mode to test the other one with the same making to see if it shows as diode first?

Hi budm. Thanks for your reply.

The good element in the first picture (the second picture shows the blown element and both seem to be the same type) seems to be a diode. Using the multimeter it shows digits only in one direction.

OK, so far I cannot locate any info for JS 9 yet, we need to know if it is diode or Zener diode.
So far the info for the JS marking I found is for SOT23 package which is not what you have.

Or you can remove the working one and use Variable power supply and current limiting resistor to find out if it is Zener diode or not , and if it is then you can determine the Zenner Voltage.

Ok, I'll give a try. Thanks for your suggestion.

Re: What IC element is this?

But can you be sure the burnt part is the same as the one next to it? You might find out what the "JS 9" part is, but that doesn't mean the burnt one is going to be the same....

Really need a schematic, have you tried to find one?
