Need more info on a ST "PK030S" device
I am after some information on a ST "PK030S" device; unsure if it is a MOSFET or bipolar transistor, or even an IGBT or SCR.

well I shook the google tree and nothing fell out that was of any use...
I tried a few variations etc, still no pdf's of use fell out all I found was stuff like this...

My tests with the "diode" function of a multimeter yielded these results (junction drop):
+ on Base, - on Collector: 0.493V
+ on Base, - on Emitter: 0.553V
+ on Collector, - on Base: infinite
+ on Collector, - on Emitter: infinite
+ on Emitter, - on Base: 0.555V
+ on Emitter, - on Collector: 0.751V
This device is a bipolar transistor (not a Darlington) with a damper diode between Collector and Emitter (confirmed by the 0.751V junction drop)

hmm... i have a really old UPS (Power Kinetics US2000 series)....
which uses this exact TRANSISTOR....

Hi this is a really odd case.
I have removed all of the esd ic for USB 3.0 and 2.0
I measured all of the data lines and 5v usb voltage lines there are no shorts
all of the USB ports have no damage
Clearing the bios using the jumper wont help.
it is still showing USB overcurrent device
the only temporary fix I've tried and worked so far is flashing the bios
and the error is gone
but when you start the motherboard with a USB device still attached
the USB over current device error is back. the bios needs to be externally flashed... -

Wanted to share this as I couldn't find anything on the internet about this problem, so pulled one apart and found the problem myself. Years ago I bought approx 20 or so Crest Smart Home Single Power Adapter smart switches - small 240v Tuya-compatible (rebranded) smart switch devices with power monitoring, which Big W had on sale for half price. Paid $7.50 each for these, and they've been incredibly useful for turning things on and off remotely... and monitoring how much power each device uses.
However, after about 12 months, I had a number of these stop working... -
Hello, i bought a faulty Dell xps 13 9370 after installing windows in device manager i Can see 2 unknown devices, one is thingerprint reader because it dissapears after i unplug it and second one is i believe bluetooth because it also doesnt work and in bios there is no bt also.
Device manager says "unknown device, failed to request device descriptor"
Can somebody point me in right direction what to check?
I updated bios to the newest version and thunderbolt controller firmware still no luck -
Hello all am trying to reinstall my AMCAP Microscope on windows 10 but it is not working anymore. But the cam and the drivers are present in the Device Manager but there it saysWindows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) the drivers is : gl usb2.0 uvc camera device driver and i also get this mesage: Windows found driver software for your device but encou​ntered an error.
but it is quite strange because it did work on this same OS for one week ago and even for sometimes ago on that same but now nix.

I have a question about some old monochrome Apple monitors.
Inside those monitors there is one bipolar capacitor. From the schematics I have it's part of the horizontal linearity circuit.
A friend replaced a bipolar 4.7uF 25V capacitor with a Nichicon bipolar 4.7uF 25V. The cap popped after about one hour. The new capacitor was much smaller than the original one but that's not a surprise as the original one was from 1980. (I am not sure whether the original was was actually 4uF and was replaced with a 4.7uF?)
