    Samsung 2233SN no CFL backlight
    by Spoonicks
    Hello,

Have a Samsung 2233SN with no CFL backlight. Testing with a flashlight, I can see the image is displayed, but the backlight fails after some seconds.
Sometimes, after being off for a while, the backlight will remain on for a couple minutes, but most of the times it fails immediately.

I tried to follow the guide present in this forum, but so far I haven't de-soldered any components. I need some advice on how to proceed to diagnose this display.

Following the guide I tested the following:

    The transformer...

    3PHASE STEP-DOWN Transformer in Check
    by dennis_elx33
    Hello All,

i would like to post an interesting topic regarding 3-phase stepdown transformer which we suspect to cause an overcurrent (138A) which resulted to power tripped off of the HV power supply (80KV output).

    Problem statement: Power tripped Off

Initial Problem: Found 2 IGBT and 2 rectifier diodes shorted (burnt).

    Action Done:
    1) Replaced the faulty parts with good spare.
    2) Measured impedance of the 3phase input lines and found that L2 to L3 has 23.3ohm while other pairs are 51Kohm. This pins will...

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
    by ttmi100x
    Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

    Upon closer inspection...

    trying to fix a 6V 0.5A T1 (Transformer) AD050120T2 power supply
    by Tarot Superstars

Hi. I am trying to fix a 6V 5A power supply that would was used a lot.
I want to fix it partly for learning, and part because I don't want to buy a new one.

It has distinctive smell of burning but not seen obvious burned components yet. I'm not sure where the fuse is.
I tested the only slightly bulged capactitor (out of circuit) and it measured normal capacitance and ESR.
Everything else was tested in circuit with a multimeter.

    In circuit tests
I tested the large diodes underside and they seem fine.

    I tested...

KDM 480W PSU upgrade succes! (opinions?)
    by bauto601
Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish....
