    pcb says "servodesign"
and if you look at the soot all over the optocouplers from some to220 in a heatsink under and left of the transformer - thats probably the issue

I would one step more than I would give that area a very good cleaning and I would check for part damage as well around that area as well

You were exactly right, Thankyou, I replaced the to220 all three pins had continuity, after replacement and removal OF all soot, put board back in and its running perfectly no issues at all, lesson learnt the transformer was completely fine and it was a rookie error on my part. They have been using it the past day with no trouble at all.

        once again thanks

Garage door RX unit (Cardin S38C) does not short relay to send opening signal
          by CoinCoin88
          Hello everyone,

I'm turning to the Badcaps community to help me troubleshoot the radio Rx card from my (old) garage door opener. While I could just ditch that card and replace the whole system, I first would like to understand "why" it suddenly stopped working, because that's just how I am wired...!

Some basics: the receiver works on a 30.875 Mhz frequency. Yes, I'm aware this is not in use anymore in a looot of places. It does not use any rolling code, it's just a regular dip-switch code that you have to set up on both the receiver and transmitter. The receiver...

diode identification please markings are SA then under it is 39
          by petehall347
smd package .measures roughly 4x2 mm so thinking its DO-214AC markings are SA then under it is 39 .i believe 39 to be the date code .
will see if suggestions are same as what i think it might be .

Mosfet Identification The markings say "L8=8H 33R"
          by Mufasa
          Hello everyone,
I have a bad mosfet and need to replace it but I don't know who makes it. I think it's Infineon. The markings say "L8=8H 33R". Does anyone know what it is for sure and where to find it?

          Thanks in advance!!

          Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
          by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

          9V relay temperature 40C
          by jm1234
Hi, I'm seeing one 9V relay having temperature 40C on its 9V (primary) side. Does that seem right? I switched 2 relays on that board and the temperature was the same (on the same position), so I'm sure it's not a faulty relay. I measured voltage on that relay and it was 9.5V DC, so that looks good. I don't see any other relay on that board having that kind of temperature and they have 9V on them too.
I thought maybe the transistor that is switching this relay keeps switching on/off, so I also checked for AC and there was almost none: 0.3V using mV range. No steady frequency was shown, but...
