is it possible restore data from the hdd with removed rom ic so, is there any way, theory or practice, to restore or calculate missing data in flashrom ic from actual data stored on disk platers? In other words, is data on disc somehow reachable, recover without original rom firmware, using exactly donor board, special lab hardware, etc?
is it possible restore data from the hdd with removed rom ic?

The only successful thing I have done in the past for drive that is not recognize by the motherboard is is to find another drive that has a board that is recognized by the motherboard and see if it can be read by it successfully about 40% of time has been my experience
But the model numbers have to match the size of the drive has to match and the boards must match the closer you match the production date the betterLast edited by sam_sam_sam; 12-27-2024, 11:54 AM.Comment

If you have a specific HDD model in mind, then an answer can be better targeted. The question, as it stands, is unanswerable. I suggest that HDD Guru or HDD Oracle would be more appropriate places to research this subject. Depending on your location on Planet Earth, Ru.Board may be another option.Comment

Nothing specific... I just wonder if the present of rom ic has any impact on data safety, if is desired to save all other hardware resource of hdd.......... we can see that method removing or wipeing rom ic it not safe, beside some claims that rom ic hold "esenciall and unique" data required to function...Comment

My understanding is that most Seagate HDDs since 7200.11 cannot be recovered if the ROM is missing. Also, no (?) Toshiba HDD is recoverable without the original ROM.The current firmware architectures have additional complications related to security.Comment

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by kingiiiHello, A customer told us that there is a data recovery company that can by pass IMac pro 2020 with t2 chipset GPU to get their data back, I am wondering if that is possible. GPU is shorted and Imac wont boot at all. I informed customers that data are almost impossible to be retrived, and they are upset and think we are BS them. Of course being up in Canada, people like to believe that usa will have a better solution for it, a US data recovery company they searched on google told customer that they could get the data back without needing worry about T2 chip or Imac not working all that, I do not...

Hi, I'm an elevator technician. The attached oscilloscope display picture is from a digital elevator hall arrival lantern data signal. We have been having problems with “ghost signals” causing intermittent hall arrival lanterns to illuminate randomly when the elevator is not actually due to arrive at the floor.
The tech support of the hall arrival board manufacturer (CE Electronics) is blaming the elevator controller manufacturer (MCE), and the tech support of the elevator controller blames the hall arrival board manufacturer.
The boards are powered by a ground referenced... -
by Joe24Patient is a Maytag/Whirlpool/Kenmore clothes dryer. Not sure of exact model, doesn't matter. All boards are out of production.
Specific problem is a Maytag 8544799 / WP8544799 motor-control board, aka Diehl Controls 708879-05. Customer states the board "doesn't work, motor doesn't run". Not sure how the repairman made that assessment, or if it's even accurate. He can't get replacement boards, and the owner decided to buy a new dryer, so whether this board is the problem is speculation on his part. Again, doesn't matter.
I've been over the board looking for... - Loading...
