How to use a dim bulb tester

As suggested by another forum member, I have made a dim bulb tester to assist with repairing a TV.

Can someone please teach me how to to use this dim bulb tester with my TV? It's a 200 watt Panasonic Plasma TV.

Also, how exactly does this thing protect the TV from blowing fuses should a short occur?

Re: How to use a dim bulb tester

The TV is not expected to operate correctly with the dim bulb in series, typically it will power on but not produce any image or only produce a dim image. The bulb will typically glow dimly, or flicker, if the TV operates, or will flash on and off as the TV power cycles.

The bulb acts as series resistance, if a short occurs it drops most of the voltage so the TV only sees a couple of volts, which massively lowers the chance of damage. When this occurs the bulb will also light up.

The bulb has low resistance when first turned on, which can help the TV start up quicker, but once it runs and warms, its resistance increases dropping current lower.

For your set use around a 100W bulb.

I got this device yesterday and did some testing on some tabbing and some incandescent light bulbs and it seems to work very well from what I can tell but how do I know how accurate the m-ohms section is what can I use to verify it accurately I also tested some li-ion battery cells and this seems to be fairly accurate because I have another tester and they seem to agree with each other

I also checked some capacitors with it that were brand new and seem to show about what I expected to see with my blue capacitor tester so I think it...

GTX 1080 TI Gigabyte Aorus low resistance on vmem
      by cind12
Hi guys, i was wondering, i've got 9Ohms on Vmem, one of the mosfet was shortet to ground, so i've desoldered hi and low mosfets nad still low res, then i removed all of the memory chips, and the resistance is still low, so did you had maybe a card with that low res on memories, and the card was working fine ?
Removed the U1866Q and still without result, i dont have thermal cam so can't see where is hot spot when incjeting voltage.
The resistance on core is ok 0.1Ohm ((Power 0.8V when on)
Resistance on 12V 4K ohms (Power present when on)
Resistance on 12V PEX 4K ohms...

TOSHIBA DLP 52HM95 How to reset timer module on bulb
      by repair-it
I replaced the bulb only on my Toshiba DLP The bulb is a TB-25. This is the first time I've done a bulb only replacement. Supposedly there is a timer module that needs to be re-calibrated or reset. I don't know where the module is located. I see some vendors selling the bulb with the housing stating module included which leads me to think the module is located inside the enclosure the bulb mounts in, but I didn't see it. Maybe it's inside the plug attached to the bulb?

Anyway - I am seeking information on how to reset this so called module so that the lamp will operate. Apparently...

      LUMIMAN Smart Bulb IC ID?
      by ezenia
      Hi,

I have a LUMIMAN Smart Bulb that suddenly stopped lighting one day. The bulb is still detected in the app, but won't light. I've probed around and nothing seems to look off with any of the diodes, caps or resistors. The Bluetooth/Wi-Fi module seems to be working as it's still detected in the app. I even tried deleting and re-pairing the bulb (it didn't light, but I was still able to follow the pairing instructions), it re-paired fine, but still no light.

In diode mode, the LEDs all light up when probed so I'm guessing this means the LEDs themselves are OK. I was expecting...

Lowest possible resistance on laptop motherboard rail - Guide Table request
      by Nagy Daniel
Hi, I'm Daniel, and I'm new to the world of repairing motherboards.

I would like to create a table, or more likely a guideline about the voltage rails and their possible resistance rail.

I know that the motherboard design has a very big depend on the rail's resistance, but I would like to know what is the smallest value for a rail that can be acceptable. For example, I heard that some new gaming motherboards can have 0,5 Ohm resistance on the GPU rail, but on an older type, it could be a sign of a shorted GPU rail.

So, I generated a table with AI so I can...
