SMD identifying

i'm trying to fix a Westinghouse TV's t-con board. i've found a shorted (all leads) surface mount transistor.
the transistor is labeled "7N6" with no other markings. of course, there are no other "7N6" transistors on the board.
i'd like to know what a cross would be, or if anyone has info on basing or whether it's npn/pnp.
i found a site called "rob's electronics" which has been somewhat helpful.

i figured that this was the proper part of the forum to ask a noobish question.

i gotta ask...with how little info i gave you, how did you find that? that could well be what i'm looking for. it is an sot-23 case. i find trying to interpret those 'identifiers' to be wacky.
do you know of a website that lists info on these? i run into these smd's pretty frequently. the only times i've found what these semiconductors are is on forums that are specific to that circuit board. and somehow the guys on the site have a way of finding them.

I have found the attached PDF useful for trying to identify SOT-23 codes.
