I have a multimeter that had a fall a few months back, the continuity buzzer stopped working correctly, instead of a nice clear tone, it was making a faint rattle noise, a bit like a Geiger counter detecting little radiation.
Anyway, I was looking to see if I could find something on the internet, but can't find any for sale, and very few pictures; I've attached a photo of what it looks like. It's a very thin metal disk (about 5 or 6 stacked would approach the thickness of a coin), 20mm diameter, plain on one side, and a smaller white disk (15mm diameter) on the other (I presume that's the diaphragm).
I have a much thicker buzzer salvaged from a busted UPS, and it works fine when connected where the original one was, so it must be the original disk buzzer that's broken. I could probably get it in somehow, or maybe a smaller motherboard speaker, or even one half of a headphone set might do the job, but if I could get the proper disk that can be mounted to the circuit board, that would be best.
Anyone have any ideas, either where to get a replacement, or another elegant solution? I haven't seen any in a loooooooooong while, but are these buzzers like the ones in those musical greeting cards?
