    Desoldering...

    Hi, anybody has done this. I have X-Main Board from Toshiba Plasma 42HP66. I tried to take a large IC from the board but it was hard to desolder I used Weller WES51 https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...7095611Station. What soldering station you use?. Thanks

    Is it under this heatsink or is it attached to this heatsink?

    From the looks of the solder, I'd it lead-free solder correct?

    I apply some RadioShack rosin soldering flux non-spill paste. Apply some 60/40 solder to each joint, so the two solders mix and will be easier to remove.

    I use either a RadioShack desoldering iron or desoldering braid.

    If the heatsink can't be removed you'll have to heat it up with a hairdryer or heat gun.

    Use care and be careful with the heatgun!

      Ok, I`ll try to apply some rosin soldering flux non-spill paste. I have not done this yet. I tried to use Chip Quick, it did`nt help. heatsink should be ok to take it off from the IC.

        Chip Quick is used for SMD removal.

        It should make the solder stay molten for a while. Long enough to sucker up the solder or to pull the part off the PCB.

        The solder joints that are circled, in the second picture, are under the heatsink?

            I am having the exact same problem removing one of these hybrids on an LG board.

            I have been told that preheating the board to 120c in an oven before beginning the desoldering process is the way forward with this repair, I haven't had time to do this yet and wouldn't like to recommend it without trying it first.

              You would have to pull all of the electrolytic caps to heating it in an oven, or replace them all when they vent in your oven. Would also have to remove anyhthing else that would melt at 120c.

              Seeing as the chip is a throughhole component, I'd still recommend soldering iron & desolder braid or a desoldering iron.

                  Hello, I'm a beginner for micro soldering. Right now I have some difficult to solder a qfn 20, I guess I put too much solder on the thermal-ground pad, the result is a corner of chip wich don't touch the board (last try).

                  I use a wire solder with hot air, I tin the board and chip before with iron and I use good flux.

                  I will have to solder a LVDS connector (40 pins, laptop pc), I saw a solder paste in seringe, good quality (it does not scatter).

                  Went dumpster-diving and found a bricked Lenovo P14S in trash, few weeks earlier. Symptoms - no screen, no POST, no beep, just keyboard LEDs flashing on powerup. Mute button+LED was responding though, and the display self-test was still working (via the key combo Ctrl+Fn+Power held for some seconds, see the Service manual).

                  Incidentally, Windows 11 have recently started auto-flashing computer BIOS in our region. Even more suspiciously, Lenovo has released a BIOS update just few days before the PC was trashed. About a week later, the BIOS update image has been oficially marked...

                  I have peltir element glued to heatsink with something thick and sticky like putty... it cant be separate with force or heat without risk of breaking ceramic or damaged semiconductor layers due to force (eg if try twisted, pulled, lifted)... method that I am using is a single thread for needle (thin and firm thread of pure polyester that cant break with bare hands without glowes), and using it like a saw between heatsink and peltir. I holding a heatsink with knee against table. It slowly cut throug putty and release glued parts. It is slow proces, but preserve undamaged component and heatsink....

                  Can someone recommend any good UV solder mask? But i need a solder mask that will stand high temperetures. The thing is...sometimes i have a bigger cooper ripped from the board, lets say mosfet pad... i reconstract it with cooper sheet, then i "glue it" with solder mask...then i use UV light...and let it cool a bit. After, i try to clean the cooper of extra solder mask..and till that part all is ok. But, when i use a soldering iron to solder that pad/cooper...the solder mask gets weaker or destroyed and finally the pad is ripped again from the board .
                  Is there any solder mask...
