    Help me Identify this inductor

    Ok, I am so glad to have found this forum. So here is the deal. I repair all kinds of electronics, but I am working on a Olevia 537H TV which stopped working during a lightning storm. I removed the power board and found a blown fuse and(this is the part I have not had to replace ever before) a blown out coil wound inductor. Due to the fact that it is ruined, I have no way of knowing the specs on it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? Thank you.

    Are both windings blown or just one?

    Take a pic from the other side too and post.

    Measure ring in mm. ID/OD/Width

    Determine wire diameter used for both windings and count turns.

    Where is this coil located? Pics please.

    It's likely not critical and you can probably repair it with a short piece of wire and some silicone or liquid tape.

      Ok so its only the coated wire(so only 1 wire). When you say measure the ring, you mean the green part right? From end to end? Or thickness so I can determine wire length? I though about soldering the wire back together, but I didn't know if it would hold up.

        OD=13mm ID=9mm Width=7mm and 17 turns on each wire.

          Looks like it's right at the end. Unwrap one (1) turn of each winding's wire at the blown end and make it work.

          It's just for EMI protection and you could temporarily jumper it out to find any other faults before you waste a lot of time on a fried PSU or TV mainboard.

          By the other side, I did not mean from the end....
