Part selection for possible blown inductor on ASUS GX531-GW-AB76 laptop mobo

    Hey everyone,

I'm a novice trying to repair my laptop. The LCD screen has an image, but no LED backlight for the image. It also produces an image when connected to an external monitor.
I have found what I believe to be a blown inductor labeled "L4502" and "120 Ohm" in the schematics (zoomed in image, blue arrow to blown component). I have included an image of the general area of the mobo and an excerpt from the schematics as well.
I am having trouble selecting a replacement component, which I believe to be a 120 Ohm ferrite bead, from the components on this page https://www.mouser.com/c/passive-com...nce=120%20Ohms

    1) Have I identified the blown component correctly?
    2) Which part should I get?
    3) Is a hot air rework station/heat gun and a set of tweezers a good approach for replacing the inductor?

If I am way off, let me know which direction to go, please.

    Thank you, everyone

Hello, first, you need to verify that the AC_BAT_SYS_LCD_S net is not shorted and has approximately +19V. You can replace this component with just a soldering iron and some flux. L4502 is a FERRITE BEAD (0603) 120OHM 3A, so here is the link to purchase it: https://eu.mouser.com/c/passive-comp...08%20metric%29

        Thank you, Alex!

I removed the blown bead and shunted the pads with solder since it appeared to be there for noise reduction only and the screen backlight LEDs work again. I will order the part and do a proper repair.

Out of curiosity, what software and schematic source do you use? It looks much easier than the PDF schematics I was using.

        Thank you again,
        Swerg

swerg You're welcome! Glad to hear you got the screen backlight LEDs working again.

As for software, I use nextbv.app for viewing boardview and schematic files. The boardview file I found somewhere on Google.

Blown Inductor on WD My Passport
            by silver60618
Hi Guys, my WD My Passport drive powers on, then powers off. Ive taken out the motherboard and identified a blown Inductor. Im trying to recover my data only

Reading between leads show nothing. If I removed this Inductor, what would be a suitable replacement? am I correct that its a ferrite Inductor is to just filter noise?
Ive seen people just bridge them, any harm in replacing it with a differnt value Inductor?

Lastly am I correct in thinking there is no polarity on the smd component?

            Thanks!...

Need real mobo dump of BIOS v402 for ASUS PRIME Z590-A - stock image no help
            by DynaxSC
            Hi,

I have a serious problem to program the Z590 chipset SRAM with a Management Engine after replacing the chipset.
The new chipset is factory new and is not containing any Management Engine. Any attempts to program it into the chipset under Windows ends with a failure (eg. Error 20: Management Engine Device not present, or something similar).
Due to the lack of the ME several ports on the board, including all M.2 ports aren't working, booting OS works only on USB. So it's now other way, as to program the chipset with a ME.

Usually on ASUS boards it worked...

Dell Inspiron 15 7567 (LA-D993P) - No power after replacing blown inductor and shorted mosfet advice needed
            by Reintar
First of all, I'd like to mention that I'm a novice when it comes to laptop repair, although I do have some experience with soldering.
One day, my laptop experienced a severe stutter, and after rebooting, it failed to boot into Windows. I decided to disassemble it and found that the PL900 component was blown. Later, I came across a post (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...error%E2%80%99) with the same problem, where...
