    Radio interference from industrial oven.

At my workplace there are many commercial and industrial walk-in ovens. There is one which is next to my paint room which interferes with my radio when it begins sensing that it needs to heat up, again; building up till I can't discern speech, anymore and then in an instant it is clear, again. Naturally, it is always right when I'm listening to a good joke or important info on morning radio.

I don't know if this is radio interference or has to do with it possibly sharing the same circuit, but if anyone has ideas on how to get rid of the problem i'd appreciate it.

Do the heater banks in these ovens have phase-angle control or quieter on-off control with contactors?

I'll bet it's phase control with thyristors- appears as a raspy 120Hz buzz as it brings up the power.

Get to a more exact problem description by using a battery powered radio. If a battery radio does the same thing, then you have RFI. If not, the noise is coming into the radio from the mains. Let us know.
      Is it plugged in?

I didn't find a lot of info on the oven, but it's a Grieve Corporation model 3.3.3. The thing just runs at around 250 degrees all day to keep buckets of epoxy soft and for curing finished transformers.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's darn AC noise. (110-120 Hz)

My 1994 Kenmore microwave does that. (I suspect it's made by the same company that's now LG.)

So, do you get the interference with a battery powered radio?
            Is it plugged in?

Haven't had a chance to find someone with a battery powered radio and mine takes so many D-cells that i don't wanna drop the cash on them, right now.

But it sounds like it can only be two things: RFI or the circuit. What are the solutions for both?
