The government nag required chime goes several minutes if I don't put on the seatbelt. I'm not blasting down the road, just moving it about in/near the parking lot at 2Mph tops.
The circuit is proprietary, so modding it can be a pain. I can add an aftermarket module to override various features, but its $300. One can't override/bypass it at the buckle itself without risking damage to the main control unit.
If I can get to the Vcc of the chime, I imagined I could insert a sort of snooze function inline. I was thinking of using an SCR, with the goal of tapping a hidden button to initiate the timing cycle, which would cut the supply to the chime for greater than the on time of the seat belt alarm.
Since we're in a running car, the design won't need ultra low draw CMOS or anything. I would appreciate any thoughts on this, and thanks in advance.
