Macbook A1398 - had repeating loop of startup chime with no actual boot. Just startup chime, then restart, start up chime, then restart, etc. I pulled the battery and cleared BIOS. It will now power up, fans on, CPU warming, but no startup chime and no boot. I reflashed the BIOS chip but the same thing happening. Where should I go from here?

by Fam787I bought a second hand Mid 2014 A1398 MacBook Pro when I lived in Australia. I'd bought it as a back-up machine because I had a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro, and realising it might one day fail, I wanted a backup machine because I don't like change.
Two weeks after buying MBP2, the seller called me to check if everything was OK with the unit, which I thought was odd. At that stage I might have turned it on a couple of times, but I'd not used it when he'd called. Over the last few years I used the machine seldomly because my original mac has been pretty OK. Every 3-6 months I'd charge it...5 Photos12-27-2024, 05:19 PM -

I bought MacBook from a garage sale the owner told me that the MacBook was dead and it did not display nothing, at first I thought it was related to a t2 problem so I did the bride OS with my other MacBook I was able to revive it but it did display the apple logo but on the apple configurator the lock symbol was there upon further inspection the MacBook did make the chime sound every time I disconnected the power cable but still it did not show any display also the caps key was able to light up, with nothing else to do i remove the motherboard and found the following... -

by Herby94Hi everyone,
I’m currently having an issue with my MacBook Pro (A1707). It doesn’t power on or make any sounds.- The charger is a generic third-party unit that had a loose connection at the AC input (127VAC). I fixed it, and now it delivers 20VDC to the laptop.
- When connected, the fans spin for about 30 seconds before shutting off.
- No display, no audio, and no signs of life during this time.
Any ideas? Could this be a logic board issue, or is the charger still a problem? Thanks in advance!...-

by pippo_oneHi everyone, I have a MacBook a1398 emc2910 with an 820-00426A motherboard.
I have a short on the "PPBUS_G3H" line... I traced it to the "U7310" IC
FDMF6808N"
and indeed the IC is shorted between "Vin and VSWH."
On the motherboard, Vin to ground = open and it's OK.
VSWH to ground = about 5,50 / 7.50 Ohms.
With this measured value, can I safely replace this IC or is the CPU compromised?
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks for any help you can give me.07-20-2025, 03:35 AM - Loading...
