    testing a TPCA8A10-H

    , it's a FET ,negative probe on source and positive on drain with the meter on diode test mode. i am getting 22 milli volts .022. I think it is a Schottky barrier . is this too low? do they have this info on the datasheet, would this be the forward voltage?

    In circuit or not? 0.022V is too low, there is a short-circuit.
    Flip the leads, what do you get?

        I get OL open loop. as it should. it's from an HP AIO that it gets a beep code for the crow bar circuit.

        I noticed you are from Canada, great country. about 40 years, closer to 50 now I went to Canada on a motorcycle from Maryland. had a great time. a lot of the people i talked to referred to the United States as the
        'Lower 48" like we were all one big country. there were a few that sill harbored bad feelings about us burning your parliament building in the 1830's

          would that be inside the package? all FETs have a Zener from the drain to the source

          what i don't like about FB is you can't add your own hobby, it has to be one of their predefined hobbies. I do rail fanning ( train spotting ) among others that they do not have.

            most fets have a reverse schotky diode in them.

              I would expect a multimeter reading ~300mV on diode-test across the body diode.
              Something is odd with 22mV? so I would test it (multimter) on known good diodes. Maybe it's a 328 tester or something.
              But getting nothing in the flipped polarity, at least means the mosfet is not shorted.
              I have a multimeter with Low Power Ohms that I will use to look for shorts or leakage as well on semi's.

                i unsolder the FET from the board and it tested at around 175mV (.175) which i believe is in the realm of being good for a Schottky diode.it's a PNP

                  OK that looks fine 175mV for the body diode Schottky at low test current.
                  Generally, mosfets have 3 terminals so 6 possible readings on them.
