    current measurement

On my Swift Motorcaravan there is an electronic control panel ,which is made in Italy.
This reports the two battery voltages and charging or discharging currents.
I have had the module replaced once under warranty because the display said the current was over 40 Amps.
The fault is happening again after about eight months ,the display is registering over 40 Amps.
I know how I would design a circuit to do this ,and would to here from anyone how they would go about designing a circuit to achieve this.

    Re: current measurement

maplin used to sell split-charge panels.

from the description, it sounds like a bad current-shunt or op-amp.
post foto's - it may be better to improve what you have.

Had an email from Swift they admit there have been a few of these units fail with this fault.
Inspecting the pcb found a crack across it ,repaired this and am going to refit it.

Take pictures, send to them, have them replace it. Or, did you just void the warranty... ?
