    Igbt rjp63k2 smd vs tht

    Hello guys,

    I have a shorted IGBT transistor RJP63K2 TO220F (THT).
Could I replace it with a RJP63K2 TO-263 (which is SMD)?

Apart from less convenience of soldering this element, should it be working fine?

I could not find a datasheet for RJP63K2 TO-263 but noticed that for different transistors, the Power Dissipation value is different for different types of the body (TO220F and TO-263 for example).

depends on your circuit and how much it expects to dissipate, also how you can attach to the heatsink...

Power amplifier SMPS IGBT keeps blowing - Artcoustic PDA1000
      by mikkele86
      hello.

I have two power amplifiers, both having their IGBT blown on the PSU.
The original mounted IGBT where marked with IRGB20B60PD1PbF and the gate driver is a IR2156STRPBF.

I looked at mouser and digikey and could not find any available IRGB20B60PD1PbF and somehow ended up using a Bourns BIDW20N60T.
I replaced the gate driver, the gate resistor and both IGBT. But as soon power is turned on, both IGBT shorts out completely (gate, emitter, collector) and the fuse on the AC line gets killed.

So I though i missed a capacitor or diode. I removed...

Mounting and Handling Guidelines for TO220 TO220F TO247 Cases / Packages

The TO220, TO220F and TO247 are the popular packages for power devices because of their versatility and ability to dissipate moderate amounts of heat. This application note describes the basic guidelines for handling power MOSFETs in TO220, TO220 and TO247 packages shown in Figure 1. Please note that only mechanical and soldering guidelines are covered here. Additional precautions are required for isolating high voltage rated devices to meet safety regulations.

Need help with IGBT 1450va ups/inverter
      by sarry86
Hello everyone, I have this ups/inverter IGBT 1450VA which was working great until it started showing short circuit on a small lcd screen, I opened it up and started troubleshooting it and indeed I found some fault transistors, I decided to get rid of all of the transistors next to the shorted ones and it worked for some minutes without a problem, but then I heard a relay tripping off, and now it is showing that 2 batteries connected in series have no power at all, and if i disconnect the 24dc in then the battery are showing they are full (28vdc) with another inverter, they are working great no...

Replacement IGBT's for LG TV reading weird
      by TURSTY
      Hi guys,

I have a LG Plasma that went bang one night.

Long story short, I took it to a "professional" shop to repair the YSUS board that was shorted and they did a half ass job.

I'm a long way down the path of teaching myself component level repair, but not 100% confident in everything yet, hence what might be a basic question.

The repair shop replaced 3 transistors on one of the two heat sinks and fixed one short, but the second set of transistors on the second sink still had a short.

      So I removed this sink...
