Re: New Super Capacitor 5v DC Battery Spot Welder with a 12 volt power supply

Now I going to somewhat reverse engineer the mosfet section of this if I can read the part number on the mosfets array because I two 5 volt @ 50 amp switching power supply that I would like to see if it can work with a couple of computer grade capacitors that though might not get very far but you never know

I bought these two 5 volt @ 50 amp switching power supply surplus a couple of years ago because they were just about giving them away with the price they had on them but the company that I bought them from was playing games because they only allowed you to buy one per order per day and the sale only lasted a day but they ran this sale twice a couple of weeks apart so when I saw the second time of course I bought a second one

The plan is to use a couple of buck converters to charge the computer grade capacitors and I saw eBay seller awhile back offering the capacitor boards with out the capacitors but I have to look an see if I can find them again

I have to start using this setup and start welding some battery cells together and make a few battery packs
Ons note I going to take one of these units and put it in one of my old battery welding machines that was electric transformer version and set it up so that I have enough time to get the battery cell in the right place to be welded because holding the tabbing and the welding probes I need three hands which I do not have

I will come back with some pictures of it when I have done this modification and do a write up about how well it works
The comments about the switching power supply that I just recently bought that have issues that I wrote about in another post I going to see if I can possibly use one to power this capacitor discharge battery tabbing welder and set the buck converter to maybe 2 amps the only unknown is how fast can you safely charge this type of capacitors if anyone knows please feel free to give your thoughts or suggestions on this topic

Reverse engineering of DoCreate DHJ567 handheld spot welder
        by spleenharvester
        Hello everyone

I attach a schematic and teardown photos for the DoCreate DHJ567 handheld spot welder. I bought this welder for temporary use while my supercapacitor welder was waiting for replacement parts. It cost only £24, though there is a screenless version available for £17.

Performance: The absolute maximum it can handle appears to be 0.15mm of pure nickel. Reliability was not great - welds were very inconsistent, ranging from weak attachment to burning through the strip. However, I was able to build a 5S2P pack without losing any cells. It's a bit difficult getting...

        DoCreate portable spot welder damaged
        by spleenharvester
Hope someone can help me, this is the second time I have killed one of these and I wasn't able to fix the last one. This is a portable Farad capacitor-based welder: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004682391629.html it has worked very well for me, but the DC jack failed. I replaced the DC jack, but did not wait for the capacitors to discharge, and in the process accidentally shorted the green COM wire (that joins the middle of the capacitors) to the -12V terminal. After that there was a burning smell. Now the machine turns on and runs but the capacitors do not charge up.

        The only...

Modifing a Battery Spot Welder because of Controller Issues
        by sam_sam_sam
I keep having the same exact issue with these battery spot welder controller boards

They either do one of two things

One the controller does not send the signal for the transformer fire which is a very common problem with this controllers micro controller failure

        Or

The controller has some malfunction which means that it does not cycle the pluses more than once or none at all and should do it any where from 1 pluse to 20 pluses because you can not change the setting does not respond to its input micro controller failure

        This...

Spot welder capacitor blew up should just replacing them fix it? The board is very dirty gonna remove it and clean it an see if I notice anything wrong that could cause this issue.

Lenovo Legion 5 high fan spin turns off after 34 seconds
        by twonk9098
        Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Legion 5 with a Ryzen 7 series CPU and RTX 3070 GPU. My issue is that it turns on and all seems fine except after a few seconds the fans spin up high and the laptop turns off after 34 seconds.
I can get into bios and can even boot and login to Windows however after 34 seconds no matter if Im at the bios screen or booted into Windows it will just turn off.

I have managed to run HWmonitor and the temperatures of the CPU and GPU are fine, I can also touch the heatsync which is warm but not hot.

I have tried a few new bios but exactly...
