Can I use desktop PSU in server board?

I acquired dual Socket 370 board from HP/Compaq Proliant ML330 G2 server. It has 20pin ATX connector with 10pin non-standard one. Can I use standard desktop 20pin PSU or it won't work?

The only way to find out is to try. The 10-pin connector could simply be for monitoring or something, or it could be for extra power. There was this AT-style connector that carried two 3.3v rails, one 5v and three ground wires on some server boards, so you might just wanna grab that multimeter and probe it.

OK, so I'll start with ECC memory and Tualatin (not sure wheter Coppermine will ork or not) and than eventually try to also get this PSU if it won't power up..

I'd rather test it with Coppermine, it's the other way 'round. Coppermines will have a higher probability of working.

It was sold with Tualatins only, I did not find any word about Coppermines, so I think there is greater chance for it to work with Tualatin, isn't it?

If it works with Tualatins, it will most definitely work with Coppermines as well.

I won't be as sure as you are, there is not common chipset but some special server one which could have Tualatin only support. It usually probably just don't work, but it could also fry CPU or board (or both). I have this kind experience with older Slot 1 CPU's where sometimes unsupported processor package leads to destruction of some components.

I have one of these boards too. I'd like to know what the 10-pin connector pinout is.
                I couldn't find it anywhere

I found that on similar board two of the ten pins are shorted, maybe for some detection, this would indicate the connector is needed...

Oh well. Try it already and see how it goes. Those pins could simply be ground.

                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                      Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                      Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                      by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
