The iron is "on sale" for C$79. Anyone? ... Or am I under the impression no one likes Velleman at all?

you dont need a digital station
      the watts is low (48w)
i would pay a bit more for hakko 936 (60w) with easy availability of parts to keep it running forever

        Sharp LC-80LE844U Blinks 2 slow, 5 fast
        by joblo37pam
It's been a while since I've checked in here or needed input on narrowing down what to replace on a TV repair, but I've got one on my bench now that has me wondering. The lack of part (board) availability means I may need to do some component-level diagnostics, and a second opinion is always good when it comes to that.

The issue - Sharp LC-80LE844U does not display. Power light comes on for a while, then you can hear a relay click off and the light blinks twice slow, then five times fast. Service manual points to 'Panel Power Supply Error' with this code, but isn't much more help...

PWM LED Driver DIY - looking for comments and criticism
        by EasyGoing1
So some of you might remember when I did this project

Which I then ended up using this dimming circuit to drive the panel.

The problem with that circuit is that after it switches on, it starts out at a fairly high voltage and then there really isn't any "sweep" of value range before it just jumps to the highest value making the circuit pretty much useless and it's only gotten worse in that behavior over time.

So since I have a grip of 555 timers, I decided to see what I could find on the web for any decent PWM schematics that...

Opinions on particular soldering iron tip maintenance product
        by kalemaroni
Has anybody tested this product? Posting this question on a Facebook tech group I'm in got a few responses like "that kind of thing corrodes the tips" and "just using normal solder paste is much better" so I'm not looking for generic responses like that, but rather, does anybody know for certain whether this exact product is good or bad for soldering iron tips?

Opinions/Advice on Do/Should I replace ALL Electrolytic Capacitors on old equipment?
        by RetroComputingGrotto
I've just been repairing some (very) old speakers with a loud hum that occurred as soon as you powered them on regardless if any actual audio is played through them. I work in a School so it's 99% likey that the Teachers have hardly ever turned the power off on them for well over 10+ years.

As you can see the top large capacitor on the right has a bulge on the top so defincately needs replacing. As the one next to it is exactly the same capacity and voltage I planned to replace them both.

What is your advice/opinion on whether or not on old(er)...

        LA-K411P / Dell XPS 9510 schematic Availability?
        by AJ847.63e
        Hi All,

Does anyone have the schematic for the LA-K411P? The usual sources like Vina and such do not have it, they have the BIOS but not the boardview and schematic. I did find the LA-H331P (which apparently is also for the XPS 9510?) but that seems totally different. That notes a CometLake CPU which AFAIK is 10th gen where my board is 11th gen TigerLake....
