    I can't see!

While I'm shopping, I could use a good pair of hobby glasses about 6X? magnifaction too.

Would be great to have those tricky joints right in your face to work on!

Anyone know wehre I might get something like this or suggest an alternative?

    Thanks,
    Neo.

Looking for a budget hot air soldering station for hobby use
        by deep000
        Hi,
I'm looking to get on Aliexpress a hot air soldering station for hobby use, nothing too fancy, just something "reliable" and budget-friendly.
Any recommendations for a "good" cheap one that gets the job done?
        Thanks in advance

MB Pro A1989, 820-00850-A tricky repair
        by BeertjeBas
        Hello All,

I want to thank all for submitting valuable information in this forum.

So, at year end i want to share one of my experiences.

My name is Gerard, 68 years old and repairing mostly Macbooks on a daily basis. It is a hobby i enjoy very much. Most of the repairs come from shops however.

Yesterday i started with this 820-00850. It would not start after being in the carport for one night with high humidity wheather.
The board was very clean and there was absolute no corrosion or other damage. ( I was not the first one to...

        The 2022 Operating System Thread
        by momaka
Well first off, Nappy New Year to everyone!

So what's going on?! - How come we don't have an OS thread for this year? Did everyone just move to using phones? Windows 11 killed everything? Or perhaps now that some of us have the Covid vaccines, I guess M$ is already running in our bodies so we don't really need computers anymore, right? (OK, I probably better not open that can of worms here. )

Anyways, ya'll know the drill: vote what OS you're running on your "main" PC.

I know that might be tricky for all of...

Shopping for a bench power supply, Advice?
        by EasyGoing1
        Hello,

I've never owned a bench power supply before, so it's time to get one.

My price range is around $100, and what I'm looking for, is the knowledge from past experience. If anyone can comment on what I should be looking for in terms of features and capabilities, or what I should be looking for in terms of “gotcha's” ... Would be much appreciated.

I do remember reading somewhere, that some power supplies will use pulse with modulation, and I honestly don't know if that's really common problem or not or even how I would identify a power supply...

Fixin computer power supplies as a hobby
        by everell
Ten years ago I attempted my first computer power supply repair. For the next ten years, it has become a hobby. I went to several computer shops asking for dead computer power supplies, and received many. I can still remember the first computer shop I visited. A salesman asked if he could help me. I said I was looking for a computer power supply. He asked what kind. I replied one that doesn't work. The look on his face was priceless! I suppose many on badcaps have a large stash of power supplies. So here are some pictures of my stash which I keep in the attic.

        My first computer...
