It's listed on Amazon at £169.98 by Antex. A common ploy by manufacturers/distributors to list a high MRRP.

My first iron was an Antex, bought from Maplins IIRC. It was only 15/20W though .

its expensive at rs and other suppliers .
been using antex for many years . had an element go bad and it was shocking me so i contacted them and sent it in for examination . was a pin hole that should never had happened . the boss was pleased i told them . i had bought it secondhand at least 10 years before that .
i ended up with a new iron with silicone lead and new cable for my old one . had a spare element waiting for it so have 2 now .saves changing bits . i call that excellent customer service .

just got the antex one today . tried it out quickly on a scrap board . will need to practice some more before doing it for real to get a feel for it and find best temp and air flow flow that suits me . it seems to be taking too long to remove chips and lots of smoke before solder melts . might be the flux i am using . am setting about 350c . 360c seemed a little better . the iron seems lots better than my 30 watt antex ones .

you dont need flux to desolder with air, it will just burn.
you use the flux when putting parts down.

ok . thought it would help same as with using an iron . not that i do that as much as adding more solder .

                    More than likely, it is.

But like stj said, you don't need it during desoldering with hot air.

i need to pre heat first .. still need to try this but very expensive unless i stand there for ages doing it with hot air .. its not like i make any money doing this stuff .

^ The kitchen stove could be your friend.

I have gas range here, and it works amazing for pre-heating and bottom-heating during reflows. You might think the flame is bad for the PCB, but it actually doesn't harm anything (when the range is set to very low, of course). In fact, none of my reworked PCBs look darkened - something that is inevitable with IR from what I've seen so far.

KSGER C245 Soldering station PSU 220V only?
                          by mkbehbeh
I purchased this soldering station when it was on sale at amazon. It had a slew of one star reviews, but the price was low enough that even if the controller and PSU were toast, the handle tips and stand were worth more than the price. All of the reviews mentioned that the unit was either DOA, or died on the first use. I looked on Aliexpress and the first clue was that KSGER still sold the 220V version of this station, but all of the 110V versions had been discontinued. I figured That there was a problem with the 110V on the power suppply and the controller would be fine.

                          I am...

Yihua 992DA+ Hot air gun and soldering rework station, burnt mark
                          by Peter_1402
                          Hi Everyone,
I bought a Yihua 992DA+ hot air gun and soldering iron unit from a used market.
                          1. Soldering iron works great
                          2. There is a burnt mark on the hot air gun handle.
I am a bit concern by the look of the melted plastic. I opened the hot air gun handle and took some readings with a multimeter.
Heating element ~ 75ohm. (Similar reading taken from a spare heating element that came with the unit.)
Thermocouple ~ 1.5ohm. (Similar reading from the spare heating element.)
Reed switch tested ok with a magnet.
From the above test, I can conclude...

                          QUICKO soldering station
                          by nbdy
                          HI,

Have a QUICKO soldering station with no numbers for the model ... (think it's a KSGER or similar copy)

All worked nice, till some day it heats the iron till it was RED (HOT) ...

Turned it off, and tryed today again, and all the same, even with a second iron ...

The display shows that the iron is not connected, like not inserted in the handle ...

The second thing is that it has 6 pins connector and can't find a handle that is similar for my station ...

Has someone some advice what to do, where to look, even how to...

The printed circuit board markings are rd80 ver 2.0 and the resistor in question is R6

                          Many thanks...
