ahh i going crazy, now main filter capacitor i blown every time i turn on soldering.

try heating the sensor with the meter set to read resistance.Leave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
when i connect a heater it wont work but when i shorted the sensor wire with 50ohm resistor temp rises. So my guess is that thermocouple if fail. I have 58Ohm on it but function of thermocouple is fail. I try what STJ suggest and i do not have any reading.Leave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
reverse the sensor wires and see what happens.
the sensor normally generates a voltage that rises with temperature on most irons,
although a few use a temperature sensative resistor.
try connecting the sensor to a voltmeter set to read millivolts, then heat the sensor with a lighter.
if you see a rising voltage then it's a thermocouple.Leave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
i notices when i shorted sensor pins the heater instantly go really hot. i think that something is wrong on board.Leave a comment:

i do not have old oneLeave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
no, i'm saying may you should look at how the old one is wired.
btw, the sensor is usually a thermocouple - those have polarity.Leave a comment:

hmm you think i shoud try to swap sensor and heater wires?Leave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
a new iron?
are you sure it's wired the same as the old one?
these cheap units keep changing the wiring around, that's probably why you have that mess where the pcb connects to the socket.Leave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
i did, and this is a new iron. wire is okLeave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
before you do anything else,
check the cable with a meter to make sure there are no broken wires.
every iron i'v had has eventually needed a new cable/needed a section removed.Leave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
ok i am stuck at this and cannot get this thing to work. I changed heat element and i cannot get 24V on heater. I disasseble the station and i see a crap of soldering. Please tell me how this this work? What shoud be connected to sensor and what to heat element?Last edited by rtstorm; 10-15-2014, 01:36 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
i have check by this link
https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...9e73bfb1cb.pdf
and i have pin 4 and 5 - 3ohm, pin 1 and 2 - 54ohm, and pin 3 and tip - 2 ohm. i measured output from station on pin 4 and 5 i have 3VACLeave a comment:

hello i noticed that i have 28V between red and blue wires. So i think this hakko soldering iron have different wiring.Leave a comment:

yes i order new heater then we will seeLeave a comment:

Re: HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
You should be able to read the resistance of the heater if its intact.
28V seems reasonable for a heater. It first guess I would say its open circuit.Leave a comment:

HQ SMD Rework station soldering iron repair
Hello, i need some help. On my soldering station solder iron died (heater) So i order new one and when i get it it wont work.
So i check it, disassemble it and i cant read the resistance of heater! Am i doing this right?
On pins from the picture i can read 28V AC so i think the heater is dead?Tags: None

by sam_sam_samI have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails
I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time... -
by acedogblastThis is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.
There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as... -
by capriderHey,
I'm looking for some recommendations of a decent quality soldering station and a separate hot air station. I'm just a hobbyist, so even if (ultra)premium tools are not required, I still want some good tools. They should be available in Europe.
I now have a TS100 and some soldering irons and looking for some better tools.
1. Soldering station, budget around 200-240€
JBC BT-2BWA seems to be a good product in the budget.
2. Hot air station, budget around 200€
Up to now I've found ATTEN ST-862D to be a good option.... -
by shahnldGood day.
i received used bga rework station wds-580 which was not going above 300c despite the parameter was set to 350c, Everytime beeps at 300c so i did a factory reset and by mistake washed data and log etc. now the station boots to a white screen.
Does anyone has a firmware for this station and want to share with me. i will really appreciate any help possible..
kind regards...03-28-2024, 01:14 PM -
Hello everyone, next I have the following problem with the Sumsour 8586D 110v dual station I bought it a year ago and it worked wonderfully, now it presents the H-E error on the soldering iron side, the hot air side works correctly..... I disassembled the soldering iron head because the manual tells me that this error is due to ceramic resistance problems, in effect, I measured it and it is open, I bought a new one that is working verified in a soldering iron and nothing.... The same error continues, I proceeded to open the station and check visually, I found a totally damaged 1R00 surface mount...
