Looking for a budget hot air soldering station for hobby use

    Hi,
I'm looking to get on Aliexpress a hot air soldering station for hobby use, nothing too fancy, just something "reliable" and budget-friendly.
Any recommendations for a "good" cheap one that gets the job done?
    Thanks in advance

Mainly for small electronics repairs and DIY projects (soldering or removing SMD components on PCBs ...)

not exactly the answer i was looking for.
        it's like this,
the cheap 30€+ stations are fine for most things but NOT for BGA work or trying to change USB-C/HDMI connectors.

if your doing that you need a lot more airflow and your looking at 160+ type prices.

Here might be an option I just bought one and it very versatile

HERCULES 1700 Watt 14 Amp 108 Temperature High Output Heat Gun

          https://www.harborfreight.com/1700-w...gun-57988.html

This is the first heat gun that you can actually control the temperature and the fan speed with the controller on this heat gun

This only issue it seem to have is that the cool down function could be on for a little longer because the minimum temperature of 120*F it should have been a lot lower than that

It would been nice if the fan speed could have been a little slower but overall it is a good idea for using to remove surface mount components that are on large ground plane or on power rail plane where a normal heat would have issues doing or just would take to long to just getting it done if you want to reuse the device

One word of caution about using this heat gun will go to a 1000* F for the highest level possible so please keep this in mind when setting the temperature that it can get this hot

I originally started out using the big brother variant of this quick station and switched over to this one because I was looking for something to recommend to students. The noticeable difference is the spool up time for the heating coil, and the max temp compared to a Quick 861 (~$300). Currently I use the 957 as my daily hot air station in a repair shop. As a standalone hot air station it can handle most work I do with the exception of heat efficient boards like 3070 GPU's or Xbox Series X's.

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

What soldering station should I purchase for 900M-TJ-I tip?
              by chth96
              hello.
A few months ago,I have purchased 0.1mm Soldering Iron Tip of below aliexpress link,But I noticed that It is totally impossible to use this 0.1mm iron tip in the T12 soldering station
              https://ko.aliexpress.com/item/4001275635593.html
Is there any good soldering station which is possible to use 900M-TJ-I tip and have inexpensive or reasonable price in aliexpress?
              Any reply would be appreciated.

KSGER C245 Soldering station PSU 220V only?
              by mkbehbeh
I purchased this soldering station when it was on sale at amazon. It had a slew of one star reviews, but the price was low enough that even if the controller and PSU were toast, the handle tips and stand were worth more than the price. All of the reviews mentioned that the unit was either DOA, or died on the first use. I looked on Aliexpress and the first clue was that KSGER still sold the 220V version of this station, but all of the 110V versions had been discontinued. I figured That there was a problem with the 110V on the power suppply and the controller would be fine.

              I am...

              QUICKO soldering station
              by nbdy
              HI,

Have a QUICKO soldering station with no numbers for the model ... (think it's a KSGER or similar copy)

All worked nice, till some day it heats the iron till it was RED (HOT) ...

Turned it off, and tryed today again, and all the same, even with a second iron ...

The display shows that the iron is not connected, like not inserted in the handle ...

The second thing is that it has 6 pins connector and can't find a handle that is similar for my station ...

Has someone some advice what to do, where to look, even how to...
