    Recommended BGA Rework Stations

    Hello Community,

Based on your experiences and knowledge, which BGA Rework stations would you recommend for general use for an enthusiast at the low-mid-to-high price range? Based on what I've seen, £6000 may be considered high. I particularly like those with adjustable focus, built-in suction and ball alignment features, but I appreciate that they may be on the high end.

Also any thoughts on the PUHUI T-862++ IR Rework Station, LY GXX models, WDS-XXX models?

I forgot to add that for general consumer electronic repair, I am better off getting an IR or hot air rework station.

£6k might be high end for home/shop use, but not for professional industry rework stations, they go up to, high 5 figure prices.
The PUHUI T-862++ IR is 800W total. Ok for small boards like in a phone but no good for TV boards, consoles or laptops.
When reworking, ideally the whole board needs heating whilst the processor gets extra heat from above and on the more expensive rework stations the bottom. Ideally 3 zone is what you want for more precise temperature control.
Northwestrepair on youtube just uses a modified t8280 bottom heater and a cheap hot air station to reball GPus and memory. A member on here used a modified toaster oven for bottom heat.
I personally have a Scotle IR BGA machine. It's only 2 zones, but for the work i do on it it's fine.

Thanks, Diif! I didn't realise they could be that expensive. I've seen work by that YouTuber. While I lack that skill level, you have me thinking I can get by with something modest for general electronic repairs. Might I ask if you were to get yourself one today, what would you go for (around the price range of 0-$1000)?
I am considering this one now, considering your advice on the low power of the PUHUI.

          Help with IR6500 rework station
          by petemanuk
          Hi,

I been playing with a recently acquired IR6500 rework station and watching lots of YouTube tutorials to see how to use it with not much success. I’ve only recently joined badcaps but going through the forums there is a lot of knowledge here, so though it best is if I ask my question here.

          1. Firstly is the IR6500 any good for BGA rework or should I be spending my money on a better one.

          2. The instruction manual is pretty useless on explaining how to set the PID loops (no information at all!!) both top and bottom heater for th Kp, Ki and Kd...

          Recommended replacement cap & voltage
          by aurgathor
I have an older SFF Dell (GX620) that I want to turn into a router, but it has a few *really bad* looking electrolytic caps (4x 2200uF 6.3V & 1x 1800uF 6.3V) that need to be replaced first.

          Questions:
          1. What are some the recommended caps for these values? (I will probably order from digikey)
          2. Looks to me there is enough space for slightly bigger caps -- would I gain anything with respect to longevity by using 10V caps instead of 6.3V caps? (I guess I probably need to look at the current voltage with a scope since I do not know the nominal voltage of that r...
