Somewhat Urgent Ebay auction for Eico model 460

Hey guys, I have a Somewhat Urgent Ebay auction Quesiton. I am watching 2 Eico model 460 oscilloscopes that I am thinking about buying. I know that these aren't very useful because of their low sample rate, correct? I do like the vintage factor of them though. So here are my questions.

What would you pay for one of these?

Is there any thing I should know about these. Any difficult to find replacement parts? I know that I probably am going to need to replace the filter Caps.

I asked the seller a bunch of Questions. They have some rust around the front bezels, which seems common for these models. The Seller says that he has not plugged them in or tested them, which I prefer because then if something goes Pop, I can start them with the covers off and know where it is.

Here are the two listings promise not to bid against me, LOL

He also has a 425 but it looks shot. Rust all over it.

    THanks!

This unit uses lots of tubes, so unless you have some money to spend on replacement tubes. It is also only 4.5MHz bandwidth (analog scope does not deal with sampling rate like digital scope). You can also expect to replace caps (paper type) and electrolytics type also..

How many tubes are you thinking that I will need to replace? All of them?

What would you pay for one of these?

How difficult is it to find replacement tubes for this unit?

Hmm ok there are a total of ten tubes and all the tubes can be found on ebay for under 3 with the exception of 5UP1 or DG13-32 which seems sort of rare. Still there is a listing for the 5up1 for 30 shipped so I should be able to get all the tubes for under $60.

Do you think that any of the tubes might be good or do I just have to replace them all?

Do you really want to spend $60 or more on 1956 scope? Unless you have tube tester. You will have to have the unit in your hand to really check out and the service manual so you can calibrate or fix what is needed to be fixed.

I don't know I sort of like the vintage factor. Don't tube scopes have some different properties from typical analog scopes? Would the heathkit 10-12 be a better choice?

I actually have one of these at my parents' place, and it still works. I was actually using it to look at a particular PSU's output waveform. Its bandwith is fairly limited, only hundreds of KHz, but it's well fast enough to see the sawtooth from that switching power supply with tons of bad caps... Its case, unfortunately, has seen better days. Not that it's beat up, but rather it's rusty. The ebay pics look better. But I know mine works

I don't really think the tube scope is any more desirable other than the fact it's old compared to my analog tube but semiconductor amplifier scope (which has an order of magnitude higher bandwidth and dual trace.)

I am in the market to upgrade to a DSO though...

The EICO460 shipping weight is 30lbs! $$ You don't buy a vintage scope unless you love them, they are high-maintenance. The CRT could be shot too, it's like 60+ years old. It's too slow for any digital work.
Popular low-cost modern DSO's people are buying Rigol or Owon for ~$350 or you could look at a USB scope.

Backlight strip quality, Amazon vs Ebay vs ShopJimmy. Is there really a difference?
                    by DXseekerMO
                    Hello everyone!

Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

I recently got a TCL 65S4 with bad backlights. After looking at the SJ listing here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/tcl-jl-d65...365as-m-led-ba...

You find these on ebay all the time. Seller feedback is good in regards to them being legit...but I'm still leary. Anyone with experience with these? Seems quite a few around here are running enterprise; and unless ya'll are stealing the keys from your employers, where are you getting them?

When i need to replace cpu or gpu or pch ...i mostly order reballed chip from china, but lately there are more broken ones then working.
So lately i tried with ebay "not working motherboards". I ordered a few broken motherboards from ebay but i have found out that there are many scammers on ebay. The most of them are selling already destroyed motherboards with pictures in low resolution, some of them are being scammed and just scam forwarding...
First board i ordered last month was ok. Cpu was dead but i could use gpu and pch. The second arrived 2 weeks ago...and it was...
