    Insignia NS-LCD42HD-09 / no screen

    First off,
My name is Paul and thanks for having me on and for what you guys do! Christmas morning we tried to plug a Wii U into the hdmi port on the tv and it went blank. Blue light on LED and that's it. Turned it off and unpluged tv for a couple minutes. Plug back in and red light blinks three times and then stays solid red until power button is pushed and then turns blue with nothing happening with screen or sound.
I called customer service and they led me through a rebbot and then said tv would need to be looked at.
I having some electronic experience so I pulled the cover and looked for burn spots, loose connectors, melted solder joints, swollen caps. I blew off all the boards but dont see anything wrong. I retried a bunch of times but don't see any fuses or voltage test points. I really don't have money for a new tv so we are borrowing a 19" pos.
    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried shining a very bright flashlight through the panel in a dark room to see if am image can be seen?

Do you have a multimeter? If so, check the voltages from the power supply with the tv on. Post you results like

          5v - 5.12
          12v - 12.34
          24v - 24.43
          PSon - 3.2v

          ect ect.

I drew a square around the legend on your power supply.

            PSON - 3.43
            24V - 24.36
            24V - 24.36

            DIM - 0
            ON/OFF - 0

Next 13 pin connector closest to the edge of board

            Blank
            Blank
            Blank
            GND - 0
            GND - 0
            GND - 0
            GND - 0
            GND - 0
            24V - 24.36
            24V - 24.36
            24V - 24.36
            24V - 24.36
            24V - 24.36
Next 13 pin connector closest to the inside of board

            DIM - 0
            ON/OFF - 0
            ENABLE - 0
next 5 are GND and are all 0 Volts
            next 5 are all 24 V and are all 24.36 V

This was with power cord plugged in and LED Blue / TV on!
            Hope this gets us somewhere.

              "DIM - 0
              ON/OFF - 0
              ENABLE - 0"
The main board is not working, it is not sending any Dim control signal or the Backlights ON to turn on the backlights.

                Main board = NO GOOD!

I guess I can replace these boards? Where might I pick one up and is it worth the price?

                Thanks!

I have this same TV..same Issue.

and there was no follow up.

I replaced the power board...so I assume by main board you mean the one with the inputs on it correct?...I have a multi-meter but am not so good on the electronics side and am afraid I will put it on wrong setting and blow its fuses.

Furthermore, mines backstory is as such

dad bought this thing from best buy brand new. but no extended warranties..etc..

Worked fine for over 1.5 years...then during electrical storm, was not on surge protector..screen went black and never came back.

Recently moved and I offered to take it under the guise that a repair person he knew said that it was likely a fuse on the board that went bad, he also took it to a repair shop which said same thing but he didnt want to pay labor+parts which were going to be more than the TV was new when he got it to fix so he replaced it and shoved it in the closet until I got it.

Skip ahead...I have it...pop back off..can't find said fuse to replace, but find a cheap power board to swap with on ebay. Get it...tv does same thing. Light comes on, turns blue and holds with no sound or image. when i shut it off the LED blinks 14 or 15 times; which I have later learned is a hardware failure.

So, its sat in the other room for close to 3 months now. I am uncertain if its the main board but posts like this and others lead me to believe it is so...or the backlight panels..or TCON, and I pulled the pin connectors off to test voltage going to main board, then realized I was uncertain which points I should look at to determine if this issue is same as the OP of this thread...

                          any help is appreciated.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                            by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

                            Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...
