check between the 3 pins on the 117, if any combination beep then remove it and test again....

btw, stay away from dab radio's - they are all built like shit.
(probably to relfect the bitrate!)...

make sure it's getting smooth 340v-ish dc,
a bad rectifier or input cap could blow one....

topswitches have a long history of exploding in 2 situations.
1: poor startup capacitor causing it to hickup till the boom.
2: low supply voltage causing it to not start oscillating properly....

where it says "made in china" there are 2 holes - look below the second one

it's a 2 cell battery, so logically it's a boost convertor.
maybe next time,add a thermal pad to couple it to the metal shell

polymer dont usually fail unless you go over-voltage or reverse the polarity - then they can go short-circuit....
