    Core 2 Duo E7500

Does anybody know what the normal/average operating temperature for this chip is, with a stock style heatsink?

Mine is running at 42C under very light load (Firefox and iTunes under Windows 7 64-bit), with a case temperature of 34C. Is that normal? I know some C2D's run in the 30C range, but those were the older ones. I'm curious to see if mine is running hot or if 7500s run in this range. Can't find anything on Google.

itunes is bloated. problem right there. try songbird for playing music. less bloated and then lower temps

I hate Apple, but I have to give them credit... nothing even comes CLOSE to iTunes for organizing and playing music. Yes, it is bloated as fuck, but I'm running a C2D so it doesn't matter. I've done WMP, Winamp, VLC (absolutely nothing in terms of organization), zoom, etc. etc. and they all sucked compared to iTunes. WMP would be OK if it would only just show you a list of all your music instead of separating it by artist.

Also thanks for the temp. advice. I was a little concerned because it runs close to how hot my P4 ran (46-49 under light load).

lol songbird blows compared to itunes. and it needs xulrunner, which i don't have cause i hate the mozilla project. itunes barely uses any cpu power, my opteron always underclocks to 400mhz (the max it'll go under) while using itunes. wmp does i think in win7. but yeah modern procs usually underclock now or just shut down, you're not gonna damage new phenoms or cores

I use mediamonkey. Works with ipods, not bloated like itunes, and really WMP isn't all that bad.

If you want more power than iTunes without the bloat get foobar2000 . It has a bit of a learning curve, but it seriously blows away all other music players once you figure it out. If there is any one app that keeps me on Windows over Linux it's foobar.

next up, open source community will release alternative shutdown panel for win, and you'll have to learn it...hehe...
