    Topcat needs your help....



    Notice the ZIF eprom socket?!? This is an ECU from a Nissan 300ZX. The eproms are soldered to the board, so when upgrading the eprom, you remove the old eprom (which ruins it), and you place a socket in its place. I've socketed a lot of ECU's, but never saw a ZIF type socket like that before. Anyone have any idea where I could find those? That would be a neat thing to have, as it would prevent damage to the eprom when changing them. Sockets that require force to install and remove chips are prone to bending and breaking legs. Lets see some links!!

    I searched the hell out of the numbers shown on it, it didn't come up with anything though...

      i know them as TEXTOOL sockets.

      originally made by IBM, they're quite expensive (about a tenner for a 28-lead one) but cheap ones from china can be bought for a dollar apiece.
      just ask ebay for textool.
