PC will only start when I clear CMOS through jumper

I have this dell desktop that runs only when I use jumper to clear cmos. Works fine until shutdown. TO start again, I have to start the process again.

What could be wrong and how to fix it ?

Does "runs only" mean that without the jumper in place, the computer SHUTS DOWN (i.e., powers itself off)? Or, does it just not boot into the OS properly unless the jumper is in place??

IF the jumpers are removed or placed in default location it wont start at all on pressing the power button.
To power on the pc, I have to place the jumper in pin 1 and 2 to clear the bios.

do you reload the defaults using the bios option before you reboot?

Make & model of the motherboard might help define the problem better

If your BIOS supports it, you may also want to "install factory defaults" and then "save current settings AS the default" -- in addition to just putting them in place (i.e., some machines have a "defaults" and a "factory defaults" -- which can be different, as a feature!)

Try taking everything off the main board including RAM, CPU, HDD, everything... then reinstall all components.

                Hi Everyone,
I have brought you a mistery item
This laptop have come with some strange faults.
                1. CMOS battery was flat 0v
                Symptoms:
                - After using the laptop and shutting down and removing the AC adapter for at least 1 minute, the laptop never turned on until EC reset (either shorting RTC or removing battery and long pressing power button)
Amp drawing was stuck at 0.005 milliamps.
                - Laptop cannot really be turned off because it autostarts about 5 sec-1 or 2 minute. (lid sw is not the problem)

After inverstigation RTCD1 diode had a low value...

                Clear CMOS Samsung laptop
                by steve raja
                Hi All
Need help clearing /resetting the bios on my Samsung np700z5 laptop.
Tried disconnecting the battery (even overnight) and the bios remains the same.
Bios refuses to see Flash drives and there is only Ubuntu in the boot order.
Can anyone advise, is there any jumpers I can short out?
                Many thanks...

Dell Optiplex 5050 SFF - strange behavior and service_mode jumper not working anymore
                by MMH3
                Hello,

i have many 5050sff. all of them, and how i experienced over many years for all about 250 DELLs goin through my hands, are fully flashable and can be serviced in any way when the service_mode jumper is set.
Never ever i experienced problems with that.

Now i have one 5050sff machine, where this jumper isnt working at all.
I do not get the normal messge that the jumper is set when booting and a short test with FPT just confirms this. Everything is locked -->> EVEN for reading !?

The history of the machine is that i used it in my office...

Hasee M2152 won't boot to any Drive + f2 and f10 not responding
                by ramzi2019
                Hi Everyone,

I'm facing a problem with a Hasee m2152 AIO pc that cannot boot to any drive (hdd, ssd, pen drive,...) and the f2 and f10 prompt is showing at start-up but nothing respond.
The problem started after making some changes to the bios settings precisely after enabling the fast boot option.
I attached a copy of the bios with hope someone can clear the changes made.
Also The clear-cmos jumper is useless

                Thanks for your help....
