    Re: Slowing with time?

This c600 idles around 60C as well, unless I use i8kfangui to bring the temps down. I much prefer running at a lower temp if possible.

Another thing that's limiting your performance is that old 20 gig drive. They are not in the least bit speedy... Once the PC starts hitting the drive, it'll quickly fall behind on reading and writing.

This 512mb is yours if you want it. $20 + ship.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Thanks for the offer, but I've actually bought a 128MB Winbond SODIMM SDRAM stick on eBay for $5AU. Now I've just gotta wait for it to come.

          Re: Slowing with time?

I now have 192MB of RAM and running Windows XP SP2, but I feel it isn't enough to do the basic tasks like internet and email.
So I've decided to opt for another stick of 128MB of RAM. Will this one be suitable for my Inspiron 4000?

It's a 128MB PC100 CL2 SODIMM SDRAM made by Infineon. Will it be OK for my laptop?

          Thanks.

Go to www.crucial.com and plug in your model. They will tell you works for your model.

              Yes should.

C600 and 4000 is 100MHz fsb. But you are only boosting extra 64mb because this notebook only have 2 slots, one was 64 and and other is 128. Buy 256MB sticks.

              Cheers, Wizard

I decided to buy a Toshiba 128MB SDRAM SODIMM for my Inspiron 4000. Now it has 256MB of RAM in total and runs Windows XP SP2 pretty okay I suppose. I don't want to invest anymore cash into this sinking boat so it shall stay like this now unless I have a manic shopping spree and buy parts for it.
