The art of F-UP things - HDD data recovery.

I have 1.0TB WD10JPVX HDD that won't initialize.
So I decided to open it.

I have data that I want to recover from this drive.
And this is my quest to do that.
I accept suggestions from anyone that is familiar with this topic.

The head is grinding against the platter's surface.
The only way is a head transplant.
And it's unlikely to work because probably one platter is severely damaged already.

Your head stack is damaged. Or loose on its pivot. One of the two. But eh, i give that drive ttl=15m now that you have opened it...

YES, I opened it... And that way I named this thread - "The art of F-UP things..."
But I opened it because this drive won't initialize...
So what you mean about "loose on its pivot"... I can check that first.

Do you have any idea, how can I find compatible disk for head transplant?
Do I need an identical drive or I can take heads from other models?

Resign yourself to having lost the data.

Take this as a learning experience to highlight the importance of reliable, verifiable backups (which need not -- and probably SHOULD NOT -- use any special "backup software")

eBay, and the heads need to be from an identical model.
But there is no point, as said most likely the platters are destroyed.
So you would need to fix that problem first.

And doing a head transplant is extremely fiddly work!

OK, it seems next step is to buy identical hard.
So I'm biding for 3 hards.

but maybe I'll pass this.
I think I need some kind of hdd data recovery hardware.
I'm looking for this vendors:

But this are semi-professional tools, and I think that are too expensive for me. I can't find prices for any of them.
If anyone knows something more cost-friendly please let me know.

It will never work, you will destroy the new heads in seconds, even if you do manage to install them without destroying them.
Why? Because most likely the platters are damaged!

The only way to go about this would be with a PC-3000 card:
To disable the damaged read head and then hope the data you need is on the undamaged platters.
