    Re: Sound issues

The kX Project drivers are great if you are interested in sound quality for music-listening, but the kX drivers are garbage if you're interested in games. It's really just for people who want to run ASIO and or utilize many of the digital-outs the card CAN have. Sound is SO jacked up in games using those drivers. I know because I've been using them on my system for years. I switched to the Windows drivers recently, just so WoW would sound good. Otherwise, there are all kinds of positional problems and some sounds you don't hear at all or some are very loud compared to others.

Most of the problems I have seen occur over the years with the Live! series are caused by XP and it's IRQ sharing bs. I have never had any of these problems with my Live!, but have fixed problems on other systems by installing Windows XP with no ACPI. This may be a good idea in your brothers' case, anyway since it increases performance (including framerates) in games. But you lose things like Hibernation or the ability to shut the system down your computer without touching the power button. If your brother is an extreme gamer, he shouldn't care about sacrificing those things, though.

      Yamaha RX V675 sound issues
      by jjne
I have an old Yamaha RX V675 receiver which is starting to develop issues with the sound, although it doesn't quite match up with what folk normally report with these.

From cold, the sound cuts in and out. When this happens the amp is losing sync with the optical input (speaker graphic disappears from the front panel). But this is not resolved by putting the unit into pure direct mode. After a couple of minutes this resolves, although there are occasional clicks from the speakers after that.

At first I thought it was either a speaker relay or the DSP, but I don't think...

Marantz SR5012 popping and other sound issues
      by acedogblast
Hello I have a Marantz SR5012 7.1 AV receiver that is producing speaker pop and other sound issues. These sounds are coming out of all connected speakers regardless if they are configured to be used. The rca preouts are clean from these defects so I am assuming the problem has to be with the amplifier.
These sound issues are random and unpredictable. There are times where the unit can go 10 minutes without any problems then suddenly the problems come back. It doesn't seem to matter if there is sound being played or not.

I have disassembled the unit and was able to take out the...

Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB (Chassis SR) TV Repair Help - Distorted Subwoofer Sound and overall weird sound waveforms
      by LEECH666
      Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

Asus UX3402 / Q409Z - No sound, no TPM, Boot issues: Bios flash?
      by i19
      Hi
I got an Asus UX3402 / Q409Z and after a BSOD I lost sound, tpm 2.0, and if it turns off it can take HOURS before I can boot again.

Reading here and on reddit I figured its a BIOS issue, and that reflashing it may fix the problem.

I want to use an CH341A (new model with 3.3v) to flash it.

My problem is that I'm not sure if the SOIC8/SOP8 clips will attach to the chip and hold properly? (haven't opened my laptop yet, I'm basing this assumption on a picture from the same thread I attached).

Any tips on how to connect to it? Maybe something...
