    Socket 478 pins

I picked up a Celeron D 2.53Ghz socket 478 CPU from the e-waste recycling plant yesterday for 50c.
It had a lot of bent pins and I managed to straighten out 99% of the bent pins, except one which broke. It's in the closest line to the center of the CPU. I still have the broken off pin here and I think the solder pad went with it as well because I dont see any silver bit remaining on the CPU as it's stuck to the gold pin that broke off. So I'm looking for a schematic of the socket 478 CPU off the net to try and determine if this pin is just a common ground pin or if it's an important pin to the CPU.... is there a schematic of the socket 478 CPU anywhere on the net?
Otherwise, if I can't fix it, it will become a wall decoration.

    Thanks.

if you are lucky that pin is a redundant vcore or ground.loss of 1 wont stop it from working.

Missing pin is labelled as "M6" on the diagram. It is a source/synch pin. I guess it's pretty much screwed up isn't it?

M6 is #8 address line, certainly not redundant, unfortunately.

"A[35:3]# (Address) define a 236-byte physical memory address space. In subphase
1 of the address phase, these pins transmit the address of a transaction.
In sub-phase 2, these pins transmit transaction type information. These signals
must connect the appropriate pins of all agents on the Pentium 4 processor in
          the 478-pin package system bus."

As a noob and with nobody to tell me different I found that using a hobby knife blade is about the thickness between pins, and just gently leaning the blade against the bent pin rows works for me
I've managed to recover some horribly mangled P4s this way

Stubborn GIGABYTE B365M AORUS ELITE - main PCIe x16 GPU port working only in x8 width mode
              by DynaxSC
              Hi,

I have this board, where I have exchanged the LGA1151 socket. During testing I discovered, that the large PCIEX16 slot won't by no force work in x16 mode, but keeps to work in x8 mode only.
I tested this with GPU-Z, also with Render Test (but tried also Furmark and Heaven Benchmark - no effect).
Tested on Core i5-9600K as well as on an Pentium G5420 and MSI NVIDIA GTX1070 and 2 other cards, including RTX3060Ti.
Board architecture definitely allows x16 mode, as all 16 PCIe lanes are present between CPU and main GPU slot (nearest to CPU).

iMac 27" Retina 5K i5 3.2Ghz no chime, no display, LED 1 and 2 on
              by moritz1992
Good evening guys, im new to this forum and searched around it to find a way to fix my broken imac 27 retina late 2015. Logic Board is 820-00292-A
              HereΒ΄s the problem :
After i changed the blade ssd with an NVME SSD and accidentially bent some cpu socket pins (managed to get them straight up again, one pin broke but seems to be N/C) while trying to get some fresh thermal paste, i hear no chime and have no display. LEDs 1 and 2 are green but 3 and 4 not. I did some measuring and it seems that gfx_ok, is ok but dp_ok, is not okay. Checked some caps and diodes in circuit but everything...

Possible to convert eMMC Socket to a micro SD Card socket?
              by Isabella91
I have seen many posts where the eMMC can be read via a SD card reader, however can the opposite be achieved?

Read/Write a Micro SD Card from an eMMC Socket.

I have a Motherboard with a Kingston BGA153 ball socket, using HS400 bus mode, which is 8bit, as Micro SD is usually 1bit or 4bit mode, I accept that a loss of speed in read/write will occur, but I would sill like to convert.

Theoretically speaking, Im thinking if I hard solder DAT0-3 from eMMC to SD Card Reader, this should force 4-bit mode, or only DAT0 to force 1-bit mode.

              Not to remove...

              Hi.

I'm posting this here in part as a memo to self as well as to describe the procedure I used in case anyone else found it useful. I found a lot of the necessary information to make this work on this forum and I figured I would give something back. If this is not the appropriate place to post this, I don't mind it being deleted but I hope it can help other people.

I got an admin password locked HP Elitebook 840 G5 recently that I wanted to unlock. I'm a relative newcomer to reprogramming and unlocking firmware. The only previous experience I had was unlocking a BIOS...

Acer AN515-57-577G JDIMM1 socket not working.
              by warsztat
Hello, Acer AN515-57-577G JDIMM1 socket does not work. GH51G LA-L181P, 2x DDR4 RAM, both good, both work well in JDIMM2, neither works in JDIMM1. The laptop displays BIOS, when the JDIMM2 socket is occupied, you can run Linux on USB, then everything seems to work ok, there is internet access and you can browse the contents of the 512 GB SSD in Windows, but starting Windows ends with an eternal spinning circle, maybe there are corrupted files. When the RAM is inserted into the JDIMM1 socket, the laptop starts but there is no image and the downloaded current does not change and the output is ~2.25A....
